Steve shook his head. "I did fall apart at first. I crumbled when my first wife died, just shut myself down and wouldn't leave the house. Micha beat some sense into me after a couple of months." He smiled slightly, then cleared his throat. "When my oldest daughter died, I lost it. I actually took out a few trees and just....I couldn't be around people." He sighed. "Then my oldest son, whose like me, reminded me that it wasn't doing anyone any good. That I still had family that needed me." He kissed Michael's forehead. "That's how I got through after that. Focused on taking care of the family that was still alive."
