Who: Corbin and Lita What: He's back! When: Tuesday morning I guess. Where: Lita Kino's office. Warnings: TBA
This was turning out to be harder than he had expected it to be. Not so much the whole coming back part. That had been cake. Convincing the board that he was more suited to work at Chesire hadn't really been much of a problem... his resume was short, but impressive nonetheless, and after quick deliberation he was transferred right on back. Even the plane ride had been relatively pleasant. And ok, so he'd lost his apartment and had to find a new one. And his stuff still had to be unpacked all over again and his office was a disaster. All of that was still a lot easier than what he was doing now.
Which was standing outside of Lita Kino's office door, staring at it and debating on what he should say when he got inside.
He'd been there for about fifteen minutes now, silently pep-talking himself into gathering the courage to just knock and go in already. But it was easier said than done. Their seperation had been... well, emotionally draining, to say the very least. It had taken a hell of a lot out of him to tell her that it was over, but it was what he had thought was the best thing for both of them. Long-distance relationships never worked out... or, ok, maybe sometimes they did, but he had never actually seen one last firsthand. And besides, hadn't it been better to end it there and save them both the grief of realizing it had been a wasted effort?
Rocking back on his heels, he slowly exhaled every bit of air from his lungs with what was probably a very obnoxious 'whoosh' noise to anyone who happened to be standing nearby. Glancing nervously around, he settled into his typical slouch before finally bringing his knuckles down on the door in a quick, steady knock. Instead of waiting for a response, he just took it upon himself to try the handle, applying pressure when he found it unlocked and poking his shaggy head into the room. His hair was a bit longer since she'd last seen it, curling slightly around his ears and neck, but he was dressed the same. A plain workshirt under a jacket that seemed a bit too big for him, as though he had overestimated how long his limbs really were when buying it. A plain pair of khakis completed the look; he was about ready to blend in with the blandness of the walls.
When his eyes came to rest on her, he was struck speechless. Anything he had been prepared to say immediately went from his mind, and he just managed a sheepish grin as his hands went to jam into his pockets. "Uh... hey, Kino."
