It wasn't fair. It wasn't fair. It wasn't fair. He wanted to be getting better, but they wouldn't let him, and they wouldn't stop, even when he asked them too, and they just kept getting louder and louder until he thought was going to go deaf, until he wished he could go deaf, just to stop hearing them.
The day hadn't started out so horribly. He'd been drawing again another picture for Candy, of him battling shadows so she wouldn't have to be scared. But then the shadow had moved. It started moving and talking, saying that Butters could never fight it, and he'd run out of the common room as quickly as he could, throwing himself into the bright sunlight of outside. Shadows couldn't get him in the light. Or so he thought. Everywhere he turned, voices were yelling at him, taunting him, teasing him, hurting him. He couldn't get away from them, and after a long, hard run, he had thrown himself on the ground next to the gazebo, curling into as tight a ball as he could manage and holding his hands over his ears. He rocked back and forth gently, whispering constantly under his breath, "They aren't real, they aren't real, they aren't real, they aren't real."
