Babs shook Laurie's hand softly, remembering very clearly what she'd seen in her files. The physical therapist in her winced at the slight imperfections in the fingers she could feel even through the gloves Laurie wore. It had to be painful, but it was something she was determined to help.
"Would you like any coffee or tea? I'm in that sad place where I find myself unable to start the day without at least one of them." It was true. She was something of a caffeine addict. The number of mugs and thermoses that sat on her desk and lined the edges of her bookshelves said enough about that.
"You're new here, right?" Babs smiled again. "How are you finding it? Settling in alright?"
