Mary hadn't wanted to leave her room for lunch, nor did she feel like eating. Someone had come to collect her, and make sure she eat a satisfactory meal. Honestly though, she just wasn't in the mood. She had woken up in a funk and didn't particularly feel like talking to anybody, or having anybody tell her anything. The orderly who had looked after her was far too talkative, and if Mary was more inclined to do so, she would have smacked her mouth angrily off of her face. People should have already learned that Mary wasn't interested in anything a lot of people had to say. Unless she out right asked for the information.
She had gone back to her room in a surly mood, ignoring the orderly when she cheerfully told her to have a great afternoon, and that maybe if she wanted to they could read together. When pigs flew, maybe. Mary didn't find it strange that her door was already open, because she would not put it past the daft orderly to have left it open after collecting her. Her ivory elephant bobbed around in her hands as she played with it, and she knelt down in front of her bed, her small form practically hugging itself, to return the small elephant to its hiding place between the slats on her bed.
What she didn't expect was to find a pair of eyes staring back at her in terror. With a sharp gasp, she jumped backwards and away from her bed, pointing towards it accusingly. "You! Whoever you are, I don't care! Get out from under my bed this instance, or I will inform someone immediately and have you removed!"
