Who: Shawn and Denny
What: First session!
Where: Shawn's office
When: Friday afternoon
Rating: PG-13, most likely.
Some people were glad when Friday’s came around…and while Shawn was usually one of those people, this particular Friday wasn’t going too well for her. She had gotten stuck in traffic, and had arrived to work about 20 minutes late…which was not good, considering how she needed to make a good impression while she was there, in case they wanted to hire her to work there permanently as a full fledged doctor in a few years. Sure, she held the title of ‘doctor’, but she knew she still had a lot of learning to do. Right now, she was an intern, and she wanted to do as much as she possibly could to impress the other staff members, and maybe get a letter of recommendation, should she want to transfer hospitals once her internship was over…but she didn’t foresee that happening; especially if certain staff members (particularly a certain intern by the name of Brian Griffin…) were still hanging around by the time her stay at Cheshire came to an end. That wouldn’t be until a few more years, of course, but…she liked to think that a lot could happen in a few years.
She had entered the hospital looking a little frazzled, and gave that angry nurse at the front a slightly forced smile, trying to fix her hair as she walked down the hallway. Sighing, she finally got to B floor, and used her key to unlock her office door. Rounding her desk, she plopped down unceremoniously into her chair, feeling it roll backwards away from the desk. She frowned, and used her heels to roll forward again, placing her pocketbook into a lockable bottom drawer with the same key she had used to open the door. Placing that key somewhere safe, she composed herself, and reached into another draw to extract the only patient file that was sitting there. Adjusting herself on her chair, she anxiously flipped it open, and started looking over Denny Foster’s file.
A few hours passed by, and Shawn had only left her office once to get a cup of coffee. She really wanted to read up on her patient (her patient!), so she had something to talk about with him once he arrived. He was supposed to be there at 12, and it was 11:45 when she finally looked up at the clock. Her legs started bouncing, since she was admittedly nervous, but she was also excited. This was a chance for her to redeem herself, in her mind. If things went well with Denny, than she could feel like less of a failure for showing up late.
Reaching for her coffee cup, she took a sip, and nearly spilled the rest all over herself because she jumped when she heard the knock at the door. Placing the mug down, she rose to her feet, adjusting her blouse, and pulled on her black slacks so that they weren’t bunched up. She was wearing a pair of white pumps with a good sized heel, even though she really didn’t like wearing heels too often, because of her height. She didn’t like towering over people, but…she really couldn’t help it.
Once she thought she looked presentable, she moved over to the door and opened it, giving the male on the other side a warm smile. “You must be Denny.” Stepping to the side, she gestured for him to enter. “Please, come inside.” When he did so, she shut the door behind him, and then turned to face him again, moving forward to extend her hand to him. “I’m Doctor Shawn Mendrick. It’s nice to finally meet you. Would you like to have a seat? Make yourself comfortable?”
