The orderlies thought they were being subtle, but Alpha was convinced that everyone else was well-aware of their presence. The fact that there were three orderlies just for Alpha, standing or sitting nearby and pretending to look like they weren’t watching his every facial spasm…well, it was hard not to notice. They weren’t masters of illusion.
Alpha didn’t mind. He’d been on a, ‘calm streak’ for a few days, mostly feigned. He was hoping to lessen security on himself eventually as a reward for good behaviour, but it was difficult when you were constantly up against over forty other personalities whose opinions ranged from, ‘Head to
Right now, he was sitting down, reading a book. He’d already read The Fountainhead, and considered it to be pure objectivist trash, and now he was reading the Bible, which made even less sense. Everyone was a freakin’ sinner.
Except for this Jesus guy. And Peter seemed to be doing all right, he was-
Oh, wait, denied three times! Suck it, Jesus! Petey scores point for independence!
Tiring quickly, he pushed the Bible away and stood suddenly. The orderlies braced, but relaxed when he went over to stack and began to pick a new book.
