S'up, bitches? Andy actually finished a bio, a journal, a screen name, and APPLIED A CHARACTER. Omg. Someone throw confetti.

Anyway, this is Jon Gray, he's Benji's douchey older brother. He thinks he's cultured and shit, thus why he got a stupidly large mortgage loan and is living in ~the scene~ in Chelsea. His place is the poo and already decorated because it's that kind of high-end bullshit and the fact that he's too lazy/unimaginative to do it himself. With all the bashing aside, he's got a good part to him and he's stupidly charming.

This is me hoping to pull it off. Let's all just pretend he's charming, mkay? Mkay.

Make sweet, sweet lines with me. I plan to make him far more social than Jacob. A wet paper bag is more social than Jacob. YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.

If you'll excuse me, I have to feed mah baby. /spaz on lack-o-sleep

It took me a pretty long time to get around to coming up with an idea for this game, but I've finally gotten around to it and am terribly glad! Normally I don't do these because I adore organic lines, but I figured that doing this really couldn't hurt, so I'm biting the bullet, so to speak. This is Abernathy Rookwell, a future Market Analyst (hopefully!). She's going to be a typical math person, so the job definitely fits.

She was born and raised in Hoboken, New Jersey, who encouraged her to be "free-spirited" and, essentially, smoke a lot of pot. As a way of taking the easy way out and not taking the SAT, Abernathy went to university at the University of British Columbia, where she received a degree in Economics. Basically, she loves math, bitching about the economy (but never offering substantial insight), and making spreadsheets. Other than that, Abernathy is laidback, calm, and almost impossible to make angry. She lives in Chelsea with her childhood bestfriend, and is starting graduate school at Fordham in the fall. She worked for Seventeen Magazine from the end of her senior year until last month, and quit due to a rather complicated affair with her much older boss. And that's that! This is mostly just for reference purposes and so you guys won't need to read her biography, once I get around to actually writing it out. Anything is welcome!

quinnsc
Hello, my little slutlings. I'm bringing you Quinn Scott, the new fashion columnist. He's actually fairly normal compared to my other characters [info]mkeller and [info]benjig, so this should be a...change of pace for me. Quinn is fairly nice and he's a bit of a pussy, so please to be having some characters to be mean to him. He won't be able to handle it. He needs to be liked.

He got into the fashion industry to be a designer but he sort of failed at that, but then he found out he was actually a really good stylist, so he's been doing that for awhile now. Journalism-based fashion was not his intention but it happened through connections and he's rolling with it.

Ummm...what to say, what to say? His parents were hippie freaks to the max, so Quinn is big on living green and saving the world. He's just like Micah in that way, obviously. Oh! He's also very obtrusive in an annoying way. He tends to get in peoples' ways and doesn't notice when he does it, so, hopefully he can annoy some people with that.

In short? He needs lines. Offer yourselves at his feet. Which are probably covered with stylish shoes.

Hello, everyone!

I'm looking to bring in either Nina Dobrev or Evangeline Lily. I think I'm leaning more towards Nina but we'll see... How about some help? Does anyone need either of these ladies for something? Suggestion on their position?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Since she's basically a blank slate I figured I'll come and see if Emily is wanted for anything line wise.

But for now all I have is she's a web based entertainment writer (thinking along the lines of a G4 style show but with a focus on science fiction) named Rebecca Lloyd. She's a bit younger than most of the staff at 22 and is doing grad work at NYU (open to ideas for prior experience beyond a freelance blog and time at the college paper).

But everything can be changed while I write her up!

ETA: One more credit option: time at the Onion or the Daily Show?

Firstly be warned that I am writing this while loading up my iPod and choosing photos to take with me back to Seattle from Iowa with the notion that I have to wake up in six and a half hours in the back of my mind, so if things sound off, I can clarify tomorrow when I am less panicked and more awake! Anyway!

This is Bridgett Darling, the new (hopefully) fashion columnist for Spent! She is a forty year old ex-model, ex-photographer and current fashion designer/blogger who has attempted to settle her life down a little bit after working in the industry for twenty-five years. She is by no means new to the area, as she's lived in or near New York since she was born and has only left for things like business ventures. Bridgett is fairly well known in the modeling world, but after her divorce a little more than seven years ago and the adoption of her daughter, Lenne, almost five years ago she chose something a little less demanding and a little more practical. The woman has always been interested in design and writing, and loves working in the business more than she ever imagined that she could.

In the past she has worked as a photographer for Vogue and is most known for her twenty-three year occupation as Victoria's Secret model. She could use all kinds of lines, really, and I'm up for anything. People that love her, people that hate her, people that might like her sometimes but not others...everything you can think of!

Hello, this is Marissa Porter played by Rachel Maddow, she's a news columnist, who's basic goal is to be the real life politifact.com. She's always writing about political pundits mistakes and lack of fact checking, corporate controls, and their effect on real reforms on both conservative and liberal sides. She's openly gay and considers herself nonpartisan though, is very vocal on gay rights. She's 40, and has worked for CNN (off screen), The Nation, and has written for The New York Times, and The Washington Post, in 2004, she wrote a book about Healthcare Reform and it's relations to HIV/AIDS, (I haven't come up with a clever hard hitting name yet.) And is currently writing another about Afghanistan. She lives in Manhattan and I put up her bio here (but I'm gonna get it more organized in a few) and she's been writing here since 2007. I'd love a line or two, I heard you guys were fantastic.

This is Lainey Parker and I’m bringing her in to be the new event planner at Spent. She’s going to be 30 or 31 (I think) and is a native of New York. She currently resides in an apartment on the Upper East Side that her parents bought her after she graduated high school. Her father owns a largely successful business and her mother is a prominent Broadway star. Lainey has a very upbeat personality. She’s generally happy and enjoys being around people and having fun. She became an event planner after taking Wedding and Event Planning at Sheffield College a few years out of high school. She worked for a few years doing some freelance planning before landing her job at Spent. She loves event planning and because of her family she has the right connections to make her very good at her job.

I’m not totally done her bio but like I said she’s an upbeat kind of person. She’s friendly and likes to see the good in people. She’s a bit naïve and a total push over. She’d do anything for a friend. She loves Broadway. She loves to shop. That’s really all I’ve come up with so far.

So before I do up her bio I was hoping to get some lines.

jashby
Hello everyone!

I just applied with this girl, and I'm very excited! Her name is Jane Ashby. She's the daughter of a fairly well-known ex-rock star/record producer, and she grew up in LA. Some people may know her name because she spent some time doing the socialite thing, but she's done with that now. It was sort of a passing phase. Jane is generally a no-nonsense kind of person and she has no tolerance for Young Hollywood types, so she's back to work. She's hopefully going to be writing for the sex&relationships department, something she knows a bit about since she grew up watching her father and his friends make mistakes. Her childhood was dominated by men, albeit men who had more interest in strippers and blow than anything else. She's feeling confident about her ability to give some insight into the world of relationships.

Jane is very headstrong, she doesn't take any bullshit, and she likes to get things done. Her confidence in herself borders on cocky, but that's just due to the fact that she had to grow up really quickly to take care of her father. She only really knows how to fend for herself because she never had anyone else to look after her, so she tends to want to be in charge. It's her first time living in New York and she's completely on her own, but she's excited for it and she's looking forward to her new job.

In terms of lines, it would be great to get someone who befriends her and shows her around the city, maybe some people who know who she is/who her father was, or if anyones from LA maybe they've met before? Or if there's anything someone needs filled that she would be good for?

Let me know!

harvie
I was finally able to get this guy's application in, just now. I had him on hold for quite some time but wasn't able to finish due to illness and then Halloween. I wanted to make a quick introduction of him. His name is Harvie, well Harvard and is from California where he lived with his father. His mom left when she decided she wasn't fit for the family lifestyle - his parents were big time hippies and so she moved to a town in Washington called Port Townsend that is pretty much a tree hugging community that embraced her. Harvie is pretty laid back and enjoys writing up entertainment articles hence the reason he is the newest (hopefully) Entertainment Columnist. He used to work for People and had/has a blog similar to that of Perez Hilton's. He is going to be writing reviews, talking about trends in the industry and finding pictures of celebrities that he has to pass along just because they are hilarious. Whew, I think that's him in a nutshell. He'd love any type of storyline if he is needed anywhere.

Hi everyone! This is Chandra Morris, and I've been searching forever for a home for her. I think this is my best bet (the community looks really amazing) but I'm still trying to decide on a job. I'm leaning towards something in marketing, PR, fashion, or possibly as Richard's assistant (because being an overqualified black woman working underneath a chauvanist, racist lazy mofo kind of sounds hilarious) BUT I'd love opinions and suggestions and LINES to help guide me!

I'm really torn right now about the PB of the character I'm writing to bring here and I'd value your input. Would you rather see Marc-Andre Grondin (the guy in the icons) or Chris Pine? He'll be a staff photographer, and an asshole - no nicer way to explain it than that, I'm afraid!

j_stanton
Hellooo! Vic here, presenting a character that's been in the works for a couple weeks, that I've finally completed and just submitted to be an admin assistant here at Spent.

His name is Jared, and anyone who I RPed with long, long ago at SU will note he echoes one of my favorite characters I played there... this was intentional. He's the blonde, middle wild-child of an upper-middle-class family that resides on Long Island.

Anyway, he's kind of a little slut but tons of fun. I'm hoping he hits it off here, because... I missed playing a little blonde barely-legal looking slut... I admit it.

(PS, I was so excited about this once I got started writing it, I didn't stop until it was done... which is now... at 4:22 AM.)

(PPS, I also play [info]britwingfield, [info]macdorian and [info]chandlerbuell. Yes, it occured to me this means 3/4 of my characters are blonde. I'm wondering how many times I can say 'blonde' in this post. Blondey blonde blonde blonde...)

(PPPS, I'm going to bed now, before I do anything REAL embarassing.)

benjig
Alright, Alex here, bringing in a second character. (For those who are unclear, I also play [info]mkeller. I know, I know...it's so soon for a second character. But the idea was just in my head and I couldn't get it out. And on the plus side, he is much less controversial, which means easier interaction. Also unlike Micah, he's a very messy individual, so beware of his desk.

Anyway, his name is Benji Gray, his pb = Zefron, he's an art intern, and a photography student at NYU. All in all, he's a pretty nice guy, though definitely not the smartest person in the world. He's impulsive, sociable, energetic and knows how to charm his way out of a bad situation when he has to. He'll probably be too flirty for someone of his position, but hopefully he won't get fired.

I don't have much else to add about him, except that I would love lines/interaction with him. I'll admit it...I'm a bit AIM-shy (unless Adium decides to bug out and automatically/randomly send URLs to people that have been sent to me by other people *cough*), but this guy is sociable enough to where that just simply can't be the case. If you're bored enough, click here for his bio.

Oh! And his AIM is benji busts it. After the song "Bust a Move." Yeah. He's that guy.

mkeller
So my name is Alex and I'm bringing in this guy (Micah Keller), providing that he gets accepted. I just app'ed him, so...we shall see, eh? He was brought on staff by Richard mostly to stir up controversy with his columns and tarnish the reputation of the magazine. Spent is a bit of an unconventional choice for him because he's a fairly well-known political pundit. To break it down for you, he's basically a male Ann Coulter, only better. For some screwed up reason, I got this really strange idea to make a character like this, which actually turned out to be a pain in the ass because of all the research I had to do to feel comfortable with portraying him and his politics, not to mention to construct his career background. I figured Spent might be the best place for him after creeping around the pages. Yeah, I'll admit it. I crept.

I'm not huge on preplanning stuff out a ton, but if you want to hit me up for plotting anything, we can do it here or on AIM. micah keller is his SN. Because I'm witty. And innovative.

But yeah. For an attempt at an informational post, this was startling uninformative. Basic things to know: he's a touch uptight (though good at masking it), kind of germaphobic (less adept at masking that, although he doesn't realize it), surprisingly not confrontational about politics outside of his appearances on Fox News and CNN, and...okay, yeah I give up. I am just going to copy and paste a few snippets from his bio to help you get a feel for him, located under the cut. (In other news, you can read his bio by clicking here.)

Bits of bio. )

macdorian
Hey, Spentians! Vic here, with my new Joel McHale PB, Mac Dorian. Mac is short for "Macaulay"... but he doesn't go by that. He grew up in Philadelphia, and is the son of two attorneys. He played a lot of sports, including football and basketball. He's a lot of fun, really.

He's 37, and kind of your classic workaholic. He'll stay late a lot, which is unfortunate since he tries spending time with his 3 kids, but it's difficult since his family home is about 45 minutes away in good traffic. He's also in an increasingly unhappy marriage that he's trying to stay in because of said children.

Pretty much, he's a powder keg of drama waiting to happen! If anyone was inspired by this lack-luster introduction, lemme know. bigmacdorian is Mac's IM, and you can also reach me at any of my other character's AIMs, britsgotwings and chandlerbuell.

Edit: He's also going to be Director of Marketing and Sales. Almost forgot.

hi everyone, this is ella astley with the face of jessica stam. she's 22 years old and hails from new york city. attended college at FIT, recently graduated and is living in an apartment and working as a fashion intern under the supervision of [info]theosaintclair. they've got a volatile relationship and, true to her colors, she's constantly pushing the envelope and pushing his buttons. it's what she's best at - keeping people in their toes. she loves adventure, trying new things, and testing her own (and others) limits. i've got to tweak her bio a bit but basically she's a wild child with a thirst for fun in whatever form it may come in. i'm entirely open to any kind of lines, as i'd really love the chance to finally develop a character in a place that won't die off and has dedicated writers.

Formal Introduction [Sep 19, 2009 * 6:49pm]

cassiov
Now that I have a moment. This is Cassio Valentine. And he will potentially be the Senior Copy Editor. He's a bit quirky, very awkward and too blunt for his own good. But, he knows more about the English language than any sane person should. He has a double major in English and Journalism and thought about going into law at some point before realizing getting paid to read was too good to pass up. He tends to shift between extreme emotions. One minute he's joking and having a good time, the next he's pissed off at something and cussing about what ever it is to any one who will listen. But, he could be fine again with moments. It all just depends. He never really learned how to make small talk and flit from one topic to the next. He either has to stick to one topic, or he tends to ramble about fifty things at once. He has almost no tact, but has gotten better at not just blurting out things with no regard for others' feelings. He still slips up from time to time.

His biography is ridiculously long, but if you want to read it all, more power to you. Other wise, any questions you might have can be posted here or you can hit me up on just cassio

emmashane
Aloha! This here is Emma Leigh Shane. She's 24 (almost 25, thank you!) and is a Staff photographer. She's learning the swing of this whole Big city thing thanks to her quasi-mentor, Spencer. She's a Texas girl who lost both of her parents in a car crash when she was in high school. When she was little they would take her on storm chases through Tornado Alley as a summer vacation. Ever since, she's been fascinated with weather. Her first pictures were of Tornadoes and their aftermaths so that's why she decided on Photography instead of being a Meteorologist.

Personality wise, she's a generally nice and happy person. There are days when she becomes really, really depressed and those are the days she becomes more and more stressed about work and tends to drown herself in it. She can be shy and awkward and isn't the best when it comes to men. In fact, she'll joke that she's well on her way to becoming a cat lady.

So...storylines! We're open to anything and everything!

uhl
Hey, kiddos! I figured I would post this just for laughs, you know? This is Tempest Uhl. And I feel really bad that the person who posted right before me also has a character named Tempest, but what can you do? Either way, he's thirty-nine, Senior Copy Editor, and essentially a clusterfuck of genuinely unattractive personality traits. He's loud, unforgiving, rude, slightly homophobic (to the point that he just thinks it's really weird and slightly gross, not that he'd ignore someone), and definitely chauvinistic. And he has a ton of children. And he really enjoys knitting.

As a general rule, I prefer organic lines, but I thought I'd just throw this out there and see how it goes. Tempest probably won't get along with a lot of people because he's usually a bit of an asshole. And don't hold that against me! I'm nice, I promise.
