Introduction and Rules Post!

This community is for people who write (no matter how well or badly) any form of original speculative fiction.

Speculative Fiction is "an inclusive term covering a group of fiction genres that speculate about worlds that are unlike the real world in various important ways. In these contexts, it generally includes science fiction, fantasy, horror fiction, supernatural fiction, alternate history, and magic realism." (from wikipedia)

I want to this to be a supportive place for writers of all ages and skill levels to talk about speculative fiction and to submit their own writing for critique. Remember all good writers start out as bad writers.

This brings us to the rules:

1) No flaming (personal attacks). The first offense will prompt a warning; the second results in a temporary ban; a third offence will prompt a permanent ban. Any criticism offered on stories should be constructive and address the writing, not the writer as a person.
2) No promoting asylums without checking with the moderator.
3) Please friends lock all postings of original work. We'd hate to be responsible for you not being able to get something published because you put it up publically.
4) Warn for sex, language and violence please.
5) You may also post reviews of speculative fiction books. If you do please link to the book on Amazon or other online bookstore. If the author has a website with an excerpt on link to that as well.
6) Any post longer than one screen of text should be behind a cut.

I've probably missed a tonnage of things I meant to say. Drop me a line if you spot anything else you think I need to say here.

What genres do you write?

You know when I get paid on the 22nd I'm so buying a paid account for this so I can put up polls.

Anyway, what speculative fiction genres do people write? It's an umbrella term and I'd like to get a feel for what sub-genres we're trying our hands at.

Personally I write fantasy (traditional, contemporary, science and futuristic), paranormal.supernatural and occassionally horror. I may try my hand at other genres if inspiration strikes.
