Sara lay in the hospital bed, two tables were on either side, both filled with vases bursting with flowers, the cards indicating they were from various lab techs and other staff. Nick walked in a few moments later, carrying a glass of water and a bouquet of balloons; he was able to get the reluctant balloons in the door and set them down on the table. “Grissom,” Nick said as he walked over to Sara, handing her the glass and sitting down beside her bed.
“You know, he is perfect. Don’t know where he got the blue eyes from though.” Nick teased, Sara giggled and then yawned, she really was ready to drift off to sleep.
A knock at the door and Catherine poked her head in, “Visitors welcome?” Sara and Nick both grinned and Nick stood up, getting a hug from Catherine before she went over to visit with Sara. Warrick grabbed his hand in a firm handshake, “Congratulations, man.”
Grissom and Greg snuck in the doorway amidst the conversations in the newly bustling room, “Is he going to be coming soon?” Grissom asked a very excited Greg. “Yeah, the nurses were just taking care of a few more things.”
Mere moments afterwards, a knock turned all focus to the door, and a nurse smiled, “Miss Sidle? May I bring him in?” Sara nodded, smiling as the nurse carried in a blue bundle and set it tenderly in Sara’s arms.
The nurse left and Sara pulled back a little bit of the swaddling to reveal the sleeping face of a newborn baby boy, “Everyone,” she said smiling, “I’m like you to meet the newest addition to our team, Aaron Einar Sanders Stokes.”
Several rounds of cooing over the little one later, Greg walked over to Nick, wrapping his arm around his waist, chin resting on his shoulder as he watched Aaron sleep in Sara’s arms.
“Our little boy…” Greg sighed, Nick just rested his head against Greg’s.
“Sara?” Nick asked softly, she looked up at the two men.
“Thank you.” Nick said, so much had been said already and it was simple and true.
“It was my honor. Now you two need to sit down, before you fall down. I have a feeling Aaron is going to inherit Greg’s energy.”
Grinning, Nick sat down and Greg sat in his lap, both of them content to watch Sara sleep with Aaron asleep against her chest.
