Disclaimer: Not mine, I wish.
Author’s Notes: Written for drabbles100 on LJ. Prompts #10 Years.
Summary: Don and Charlie know they can lie to the others but not to themselves.
Don didn’t know how long it took them to settle it.
Love didn’t always win, they were wrong, love didn’t conquer all.
Charlie withdrew for a long time afterwards, their father thought it was something to do with a math problem he couldn’t solve; something similar to P vs. NP.
Don didn’t volunteer any information, he tried to keep it to himself.
He knew it hurt Charlie, who said it didn’t hurt him too?
You can lie to others but you can only lie to yourself for so long.
You always know the truth.
It took several years, long nights of arguments at Don’s apartment, days spent it bed - fighting the inevitable truth of the fact they were brothers, and those were followed by more nights of tears brushed away by soft fingers and tender kisses to ease the pain.
They damned the fates for doing this to them.
They can only fool the others, they can never fool themselves.
