It hadn't taken Janice very long upon her assignment to the Enterprise to realise that while there was such a thing as time off it onl really applied when she was sleeping, and even then she also had her communicator and the computer to alter her should Jim need anything, or if anything she needed to know about occured. With the new arrivals this meant Yeoman Rand was even busier than usual, not that she minded in the least. She had always been consciencious and prided herself on knowing everything that happened on board the ship so she could fill the captain in on the important things, after all not everything needed his attention, he had a whole crew to back him up, to do the more dull but no less vital things to keep the starship running on a day to day basis.
The fact that so many things seemed to be happening at the meant that even now, at the end of her shift as she sat at the bar with a glass of red wine in front of her she still had her data PADD with her and was in fact working. Making notes about who had arrived, what was known about them, the era they were originally from etc. She was also keeping on eye on the reports that had come through about some kind of bird seen over a planet. Thus far nothing seemed to have happened with it so she had put that to the bottom of her concerns for now. Checking the time she wondered briefly is she could contact Kirk and remind him to eat, but decided against it for now at least. She really needed to stop worrying about him so much, she was fairly certain he didn't appreciate it and she knw herself it went a little above her general professionalism. She needed to step back, to only get involved when it was actual her shift or when he contacted her. Yes that was what she was going to do, stop thinking about James T. Kirk unless she was bing paid to do so. Now if only there was someone to distract her from the captain and possibly even her work she'd be all set.
