What they’re saying, all the things they’re implying—Michael doesn’t want to hear it. He doesn’t want to hear that the police (are they just police? they can’t be) know something about Lee, know enough that knocking them out would be dangerous. He doesn’t want to hear that he and Kevin could have been murdered on the spot just for getting in the way of Lee’s kidnapping. It would all mean something too sinister to consider.
