Michael isn’t offended. Not by Wolfgang. It is definitely too early for anything like that. Despite how intimidated they seem, they’re still handling this better than Michael is, and he doesn’t know how they’re managing it. He wants to flip the table over and it’s only been ten minutes.
He takes a deep breath and rubs their back a little, tries to calm down for their sake. He doesn’t want to make this worse for them. “Don’t worry about it, okay?” he says under his breath, embarrassed about all of it.
Morris releases a blustery sigh. “Whatever you say,” he allows, disappointment clear, before starting on his sandwich. Chewing the first bite, he asks, “So, speaking of such holy things, have you found a temple here, Li? It must all be such a disappointment, after growing up where you did, but this town is also an important place for us.”
