Summary: Some things are better left unspoken....even when you think you are alone
"I can't take it anymore. The stress is killing me." A catch in his voice, like a small child who wants nothing more than to whine to mother. "I mean, I'm the leader, right?"
Eyes danced, lips bitten in an attempt to muffle the laughter attempting to escape, not wishing to interrupt the tawny-haired boy's heartfelt confession.
"I mean, I know I should set an example, but what am I supposed to do? I really....I just don't know." The plaintive wail in his voice grew louder, as he contemplated his current predicament. "I mean, I don't want to make them feel like I don't care, but I can't do it."
"What would people say, if they knew?" The psychiatrist stared blandly back at him, silent and watchful.
"It's just not fair. I mean, they all think I'm so, so cool and collected...and STRAIGHT. How can I let anyone find out that I'm really...." He trailed off, trying to not to sniffle too loudly as he buried his face in the soft fur of his counselor.
"Its not too late, right? I can still tell them that I'm out of my element, that I'm not comfortable stepping into such a different genre so soon. Maybe....yes, that's a perfect idea. I'll just tell them I'm not familiar enough with Dong Bang Shin Ki to do it!"
A thump, and shushing noises as the unlucky boy climbed to his feet, casting an apprehensive glance toward the closed door. "Not familiar enough to do what?" Jaejoong eyed the door to Yunho's room with curiosity, as four gathered around the small speaker in the youngest one's hand with bated breath, waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Inside the closed chamber, the oblivious leadersshi continued, unaware of how close he was to revealing his darkest secret to the very people he least wanted to find out. The understanding eyes of his confidant urged him onward, and he took a deep breath before finally spilling the secret that had been bothering him most.
A sudden howl of laughter from the kitchen brought his head around, stopping the leader mid-confession, a petulant look on his face. If they were going to be playing games, they could do it a bit quieter. After all, this was supposed to be his alone time. Turning back to the stuffed deer, he cuddled it swiftly, glad to finally have all of that off his chest.
"Bambi, what's wrong. You're not as soft as you were yesterday..." A curious exploration of his favorite toy revealed an unpleasantly familiar object. An object that Junsu had given their 'baby' on his most recent birthday, and which had caused a shiver of apprehension in the other members of their small group, a dread sensation that had proved true for the tall boy. "SHIM CHANGMIN!"
Junsu and Yoochun watched, mirth streaking their faces with tears and sending tremors of laughter through their bodies, as Yunho slammed his way out of the bedroom he shared with Xiah, ire written on his face. Jaejoong made a brave effort to block the enraged leader's way as he stalked forward, knowing that if the violence written on Yunho's face was done, it was he himself that would be patching the younger boy back up in the end.
Changmin hid behind his lover, quickly shoving bandaged hands into the shorter boy's pockets, along with the offending device, and tried to look innocent. As the two backed up slowly, retreating from the disturbing light glowing in their normally calm leader's eyes, Max opened his mouth to speak, shoving his foot so far in it that it was a wonder his breath didn't smell of rubber soles.
"Aw, come on, Yunnie. You should just do it. We don't mind, do we Chunnie?" The boy giggled as he backed away, keeping Jaejoong in front of him like a shield, as Yoochun waved his assent from the table, the laughter shaking his form making it nearly impossible to move, much less speak coherently. "I'm sure Rain and Junki will be flattered that you like them so much. I mean, we love to read those fanfics our fans write about US."
With one last burst of laughter, Changmin broke for the door, dragging his poor hyung out with him. He wasn't stupid enough to stick around and wait for Yunho to catch up and exact vengeance for this little prank. That would wait until AFTER he sent Junki a copy of The Complete Fanworks of Jung Yunho.
Urm, yeah. Don't ask. This was inspired by virdant's wonderful ficlets.
Part 1: Mental State
Part 2: A Stitch in Time Saves Nine.
You don't have to read them first to understand this, but I highly recommend it.
Read and review, pl0x?
