Roger grabbed Batman and Roger Jr, placing them on the pockets of his jacket, and headed out to see his best friend. He knew seeing the boys would cheer Alicia up. Plus, they were being a mess so he didn’t want to leave them alone and come back to them having destroyed the couch or something.
He headed to the second floor and knocked on the door. “Als. it’s me, your favorite person in the entire universe and beyond.”
Smirking, Alicia got up off the couch where she and Scuba had been sitting. It’d been another mission, another strange disconnect from the people she’d known in Atlantis. Seeing Sam was probably the hardest but she kept it professional and kept her distance as much as possible. She’d almost said something to Bucky during the mission but stopped herself and kept away more than not.
“Well?” She asked as she opened the door. “Come to check on me again?”
“Obviously,” he said with a smile. He leaned and pulled her into a hug. “I brought the boys to cheer you up,” he pulled them out of his pockets and set them on the floor, and they went straight to play with Scuba. “You have something to eat?”
Smiling she gave him a hug back. “Oh, so you’re actually here to see if I can feed the three of you, huh?” Alicia laughed softly. “Should have known.” She shut the door behind them and nodded towards the kitchen. “Yeah, there is some food in there.”
“When am I not here to get food, Als?” he laughed. He scratched Scuba when the dog came to greet him and headed to the kitchen to get some food. “How are you feeling today? Any better?” he asked as he opened the fridge. “You know, I had a random thought last night as I was laying in bed, and I need your opinion on it.”
“I’m fine, for the ten-millionth time, this isn’t any worse than a bad Quidditch match, besides, wasn’t kidnapped, didn’t get tortured, only spent time with an ex who hasn’t a clue who I am and got shot at some. Not a huge deal.” Alicia shrugged.
“Yeah, what was the thought?”
“Hey, I worry about you, okay? You’ve been through a lot already,” he said, grabbing a can of soda and opening it. “So, Flint is here, right? I feel like we should reopen the ‘I hate Marcus Flint’ Club... I already have great ideas for merchandise,” he said, taking a sip of his drink.
Alicia smiled. “I’m fine really,” she was, other than missing some people from Atlantis horribly.
“Rog!” She let out and hit his head lightly. “He’s,” she paused. Part of her wasn’t completely against the idea but she felt like after everything she’d been through with Flint, or well, a version of Flint, she wasn’t sure. “I think Katie might be a better target for that club.” She offered instead.
“What was that for?!” he complained, even though she hadn’t hit him that hard. “Oh come on! He’s what? Handsome? Gross. Smart? Hell no. Good Quidditch player? In his dreams.”
“He’s not all bad!” Alicia insisted. Was he ugly? Well, he wasn’t all that good looking when they were in school, but now he wasn’t horrid to look at. Was he smart? In really, really different ways than she’d say a lot of other people. He wasn’t horrid at Quidditch either. “He’s just, Flint.” That wasn’t the best description. “And with the history, even if he doesn’t currently know it, I don’t know…” She paused. “Katie’s a better bet for the club.”
He tilted his head and looked at her curiously. “You still like him, don’t you?” he asked, taking a sip of his soda.
“I don’t fancy him if that’s what you’re asking, but I don’t hate him either.” She wasn’t sure if she was telling the truth on the first part of that but her love life was complicated enough as it was here. All these blokes she’d either dated or almost dated or fake world dated were here and none of them knew who she was, well except one, but for Alicia that memory was faded and not one she’d personally experienced. It was complicated.
“Of course that’s what I’m asking,” he said as he sat on the counter. He knew they had history, even if that Flint didn’t remember any of it. Als’ feelings were still there, he knew it. “Now in all seriousness, Als, if you fancy the bloke, go for it.”
“No, not that, it’s complicated Rog,” Alicia admitted. “With Sam here and no memory.” Sam was almost more complicated because she’d actually thought they’d make it in the long run and the pain of grieving him and moving on with her life hadn’t been easy. “I need to just stay away from any sort of romantic entanglements. You do realize that there are, or were,” she paused counting in her head. “Five blokes I have some sort of history with and two are just weird memory things and one has already left this place.”
“Five blokes? Jeez Alicia, if Witch Weekly was around you’ll be on the cover for sure,” he teased. “You can’t stay truly away from romance. That’s like trying to stay away from breathing oxygen. It’s impossible. We all want someone to share our life with,” he said. “But I get you want to stay away from all that drama. I’d want to stay away too... But don’t try it too hard. Just live your life, enjoy the time here and all that cheesy stuff people say.”
“It’s spanned over 5 years, and one is from a world I was never actually at, and another was from Breckentale memories and you know those aren’t exactly normal so really it’s just two and a half blokes, given the last one nothing actually happened.” She tossed her arms up. “I’m staying out of all the romantic shit for at least six months. My heart needs a break.”
“Good. I’ll help you stay away from all romantic shit. If I see a guy getting close, I’ll just punch him,” he said with a nod. “And I’ll smack you on the head,” he teased, knowing that would probably get him a punch or worse from Alicia herself.
“I don’t think you have to get dramatic about it!” She laughed. “Besides, if I really want to beat someone up, I think I’ve got the skills to do it.” Although of the blokes still there one was a vampire, another cylon and another a supersoldier. Yeah, alright Flint was the only somewhat normal one.
He laughed and shrugged. “I just want a reason to punch Flint on the face,” he admitted jokingly... Or was he? “Uuuh, yeah. You’re so badass,” he teased.
“Somehow I have a feeling you could find a reason to punch him if you really want to, he makes it a bit easy.” Alicia didn’t want to admit that but in reality, he did make it easy, really easy.
“Probably,” he laughed a little. “Definitely need to talk to Katie about the Club,” he said with a nod.
Alicia laughed. “You two enjoy the club.” She teased.
