Cal shifted a little, tipping his head as BD-1 beeped and whirred over his shoulder. He chuckled a little and shifted his belt, fingers brushing against his lightsaber out of habit more than anything else.
"Yeah, buddy," he said quietly, "I know. This is weird."
They'd gone back to Bogano to try and see if there was anything more they could learn from the ancient Zeffo artefacts there. Though they'd finished off most of the initial hunt that had been left for them by Master Cordova, there was still so much history out there to be discovered. His fingers had itched to just touch things, to learn their history and the story of the Zeffo, where they'd gone, what had happened to them.
Cere had left him to his own devices down in the tomb. Thankfully the puzzles he'd completed had stayed in place, meaning he had less climbing to do when he'd descended back down into the depths of the planet, but there was still a lot to explore. He'd spent the better part of six hours and was starting to get hungry when the mist rolled in. It had been chilly, and he'd walked forever in it until he and BD-1 were greeted by someone on the other side, telling him that he was somewhere else entirely, in Equilibrium, and that he had a part to play in an upcoming war. Then he was sort of left to his own devices after being given a communicator that didn't seem to be voice activated and told where his accommodation was.
Blip-blip-bloop.
"Hm? Oh- I'm alright. It's just cold. I'm thinking about how we ended up here."
Boop-beep?
"Yeah, the mists. I just wonder what they're made of."
BD-1 climbed higher up Cal's shoulder, nudging his jaw like he could nestle there and that would keep him away from the chill of the air. It made the Jedi laugh a little.
"Why're you trying to avoid it? You can't feel the cold."
Be-de-beep-doop-beep!
"Okay- okay, fine, so your temperature sensors register the cold, that's not the same as feeling it, BD-1. Anyway I-"
He paused, cutting himself off as it swirled higher around him. BD-1 let out a slightly distressed sound, blue-green light refracting off the fog as he tried to scan it to no avail. He let out a distressed sound, whirring and tightening his feet on Cal's shoulder.
"It's okay little guy," Cal reassured, lifting a hand to nudge BD-1's head gently. He felt the little robot nudge him back. "I won't let anything happen to you."
Bip-bip-doop?
"No, I won't let anything happen to me either."
Though that would be easier, he thought as the little droid hopped off his shoulder and ran up to a nearby person, scanning them with a bright blue light and trilling happily, if BD-1 would just stay put and not run off whenever something interested him.
He hurried over. "I'm so sorry, BD, stop that."
