"I just assumed being so close to the dam, our people would have emptied these by now. But I guess someone always misses something." There were relatively few of them at the dam compared to the rest of the world, but in the fourteen years since the meteors, it was difficult to find a cache of stuff that hadn't already been picked clean, and was of some use.
Jade was sure that a good many people at the dam knew how to pick locks, and those that didn't were like her and could bash the lock off with a fist or could open the door with a good hard shove to the deteriorating wood. But Kaira was giving Jade a good idea of what she was capable of; what sort of asset she'd be to the resistance.
Jade smiled at the evident delight Kaira displayed at her treasure. She leaned against the open door and let her eyes scan the small room. She spied the ammunition boxes immediately. They were probably useless against lycans or vampires, but they were handy to have in case other humans tried to take what wasn't theirs. And sometimes the bullets could be adjusted to accommodate silver that would kill lycans.
"Nice. Let's see what's in the box." She tilted her chin toward the footlocker, still keeping her senses alert in case someone had followed them.
