Mike was so grateful to be able to offer something of value to the incredible person before him; Al-Adil was everything good and righteous in a man, whether he was a vampire or not. Such a man he would love to have married Sophie off to; he knew Al-Adil had a wife, though he never really discussed her. Mike knew the Qur’an discussed plural marriages and decided he would flip through his copy later to see exactly what it had to say. Sophie was beautiful…he wondered, if it were permissible, if he could interest his old friend in his daughter. With Sophie married to Al-Adil, all of his worries for her would be settled; the Dilectu would protect her body and soul.
Taking a deep breath, Mike put his thoughts of Sophie to the side and smiled at his old friend, “Well, any medicines and medical supplies that won’t be missed would be our first priority, of course. Seasonings for food, children’s shoes…seems we can find adult shoes in all of the military outposts and other places where we salvage clothes and materials, but there are never any children’s things. Seeds, if possible, fruit seeds, vegetable seeds…so that we may grow our own. We have credits to pay…just not the access. If you could get these things for us, somehow, I would be eternally grateful”.
