“All in all, I do believe Xavier to be a good man, my friend. He just has a different point of view on life and a much different appetite than yourself”, Mike explained, hoping Al-Adil would get the idea of what he was saying so he wouldn’t have to explain further.
Mike listened attentively to Al-Adil and then replied earnestly, “You can be rest assured that I have no interest in drawing any attention from the Sanguine. Not a person in this camp is fool enough to want trouble from them. We’d be suicidal to go up against the Sanguine…so, old friend, you have my word that we have no plans to attack or start any trouble with your masters”. Mike looked at Al-Adil and wondered what had happened to cause such an honorable, loving man to be oathbound to the Sanguine.
“Thank you for being so forthcoming with me, but, with you, I’m not surprised”, Mike smiled and nodded. He knew things would change now. He would have to be careful how much he told his old friend about the camp and their schedules and supplies and such. “So, we can make plans for supplies from the city, I suppose…”, then a thought came to Mike about Al-Adil’s oath, “…and, if I’m not out of line, perhaps we might make some arrangement for the girls to come here…if some unforeseen tragedy should happen in the city, causing them to be unsafe there”.
