He was moving his beloved Jaron around like a life-sized marionette and Thorne was definitely not happy with things as they stood. He saw, as well as felt, his lover’s agony as the diminutive vampire watched the murder victim’s blood wash from his slender body and down the drain. He knew Jaron, he knew what a creative mind the courtesan had…he knew that blood represented Valentina’s life in some way.
When Jaron’s beautiful dark eyes met his, Thorne melted. It killed him to see such devastating sadness there. Lifting his love out of the tub, he retrieved a large, thick, peach-colored towel and gently began to towel him off, while softly singing…
“You fill up my senses Like a night in the forest Like the mountains in springtime Like a walk in the rain Like a storm in the desert Like a sleepy blue ocean You fill up my senses Come fill me again
Come let me love you Let me give my life to you Let me drown in your laughter Let me die in your arms Let me lay down beside you Let me always be with you Come let me love you Come love me again…”
He stopped before singing the entire song and kissed his precious Jaron softly on the lips. He knew that his corny old ballads always cheered Jaron up and made him smile…of course that wasn’t the only reason he sang them…no…he meant the words he was singing and he loved the songs, each and every one.
Valentina’s large bathroom actually had a small closet which held several robes and some pajamas; Thorne selected a black kimono-type robe for Jaron and helped him on with it, before he himself dried off and got dressed.
Wrapping a protective arm around Jaron, they walked out through the apartment passed where the other Peace Keepers were busy at work. Thorne stopped to speak to his Officers, “Things look like they are well ahead of schedule here. Great work, Officers”, he complimented, “Shawn, put in the report that I escorted Mr. LeJeune home for his own well being and healthier state of mind. Any questioning will be done there. When you are finished here, send two Officers down to post outside of his door”. He patted Officer Gallagher on the back and, when they were outside the door, lifted Jaron into his arms to hurry home with him.
