Atticus marked the stress Jo put on that last word with a tiny tilt of the head. It was an eerily canine little tick he'd picked up since his change every time he was confused or thinking about something he couldn't quite figure out.
"Yeah, actually. I just met with him this morning. He's... I'd imagined someone older, you know? Less... likable. He felt, I dunno, like an older brother type, someone you can look up to. I'm thinking that's got something to do with us both being wolves, right?"
He pondered that for a moment before continuing. "Yeah, I mentioned to him that I'd had some engineering and construction in my background, and he seemed to like that. I've learned there's all sorts of reconstruction going on around town, so I figure I should be alright."
Atti took a good swig of his beer and added, "Although you make law enforcement look pretty hot, I gotta say," he added with a smile. "I wouldn't mind getting me some of that badass mojo you pulled on those two assholes earlier."
His brain caught up with his choice of words a few seconds later. "I mean... I didn't mean... aw, you know what I meant," he hoped. "It's the respect, yeah?" He was blushing quite fiercely by the time he finished the phrase.
