She chuckled as she slid into the booth opposite him. Shaking her head she waved off the thanks. "It makes my job easier if I can stop the fight before it really gets going. You not fighting back actually helped, so I should be thanking you." She smirked lightly and waved a waitress over. Her eye casually roamed her figure as she approached.
"Beer for me." She looked over at Atticus and raised a brow, indicating that he should order. When he did, and the waitress walked away Jo turned her attention back to him. "Angus likes to have a good time. Sometimes that means goading others into a fight, but he's basically harmless if you can get beyond that. Don't beat yourself up too much."
She leaned back in the booth and spoke again. "First night in the city, huh? Other than almost getting the tar beaten out of you, what do you think of it?" Jo loved it here. She had all new friends, if one could call them that, and a great job. She had her pick of women because she was in a position of power, and a lot of women were drawn to that. A few guys were, too, but she usually didn't even let them think they had a chance. Their drinks arrived and Jo wrapped her slender fingers around the handle of the mug before she lifted it to her lips and took a drink.
