Sub-Commander of the Peace Keeper Forces, Jo Fairchild was sitting in a dark corner of the bar when she saw Atticus McCree enter. He looked like he was having a good time, and she didn't mind that so much herself, but she'd also seen the goons who'd followed him in. They looked like trouble. She recognized them, of course. It was her job... her duty to know the people who moved around this town. And she did her best to make sure no one escaped her notice.
The mountain lion were was a fairly new arrival. He'd been easily won over by the werebear when he backed him up in a fight a few weeks ago. They'd been inseparable ever since. She also knew that Angus, the werebear, knew who she was. She was counting on this as she witnessed the "slip" of Angus' drink down Atti's back. She slipped from her seat, leaving a voucher on the table for a tip, and walked toward the scuffle.
"Hey boys, what's the problem?" She could see that Angus and his buddy were drunk. And Atticus was a little tipsy himself. Her gaze slid from the angry couple of guys and the new guy splayed out on the pool table. She was wearing a long black trench coat over a pair of slim fitting jeans and a baby blue button down dress shirt that fit her curves very well. Her long and wavy chocolate locks were pulled back from her face and clipped so that they hung down her back.
She raised a brow at Angus and he took a step back, lowering his raised fist. "Uh, no problem, Ms. Fairchild." Her eyes slid to his friend and he shook his head violently. Anyone who could make Angus back down must not be one to trifle with. "Maybe it's time to go home, boys." She nodded and took a step toward them. "And don't call me Ms. Fairchild, Angus, it makes me feel like a school teacher." He nodded quickly. "Sorry, Ms.. I mean, Jo. We'll be going now." She smiled and watched him and his friend lumber off toward the exit.
She turned her attention to Atticus. "I'm not saying they'll never try that again, but probably not tonight." She reached out to give him a hand off the pool table he was still sprawled on. "I'm Sub-Commander Jo Fairchild of the Peace Keeper Forces here in town. And you're new. I can practically see the shine on you." A good sniff told her also that he was a new were. Really new, and not born. And... wolf. She had nothing against wolves, there was just a long history of cats and dogs not really getting along. But that didn't stop her from talking to them, or coming to their rescue if need be.
Jo didn't trust many people, those she did trust usually betrayed her in some way. And if she didn't trust people easily, it made her job more productive. It was easier to put someone away if you didn't trust them enough to believe their claims of innocence. "C'mon, I'll buy you a drink and you can tell me all about your shiny new self, huh?" She gestured with a motion of her head toward the table she'd recently vacated. Her drink and voucher were no longer there, but it was still empty.
