Kip didn’t regret being caught by the slavers, because that was his plan; when he and the other survivors from their shelter were startled awake, there was nowhere to go. It seemed certain that they would all be captured. Kip caused a disturbance and led them away from the others and it worked. He was the only one captured and the others got away. It was because of him that his siblings, Cassidy, Bonnie and Cora, all younger than him, were still free.
The vampire slavers pulled at him and poked on him as if he were some animal and he would not permit that. He was a human being and slavery was illegal, “Take your hands off of me, you abominations!”, he blasted at the two who were holding him, “This is illegal! Do you realize that?!” Kip looked at the one who seemed to be in charge, “YOU! How dare you take slaves! Set those people free!”, he pointed at the cart with people caged within, “Just because there has been a natural disaster doesn’t mean all laws have been abolished!” The slavers and the slavemaster all seemed to be amused by him.
Kip was dragged over to the cage, but fought being put inside; his strength, however, was nonexistent next to that of the vampires. “This is an OUTRAGE!”, he growled, “I am the son of the governor of Massachusetts! I am descended from two great Presidents of this country!” He slipped the grip of one of the Slavers and tripped him using the martial arts that he was trained in…however he was picked up by another larger vampire behind him, “Take your filthy hands off of me! I DEMAND to see your LEADER! Do you hear me? I demand to see your leader and I invoke the Geneva Conventions for myself and for all of these people!”
The slavemaster was in tears at this point and he gestured to his men, “Tie him to the back of the cart! He can walk the rest of the way to the city! The Primus has to have this one! I think Lucian would whip all of us, if he heard about this little monkey and we failed to turn him over.
After a few more stops, the cartload of slaves was taken to the slavemarket in the city and Kip was taken to the Sanguine Compound. The slavemaster himself announced himself and was cleared to bring the boy up to Lucian’s suite. On the top floor, they stepped out of the elevator and knocked on the large, ornamented double doors.
