Catching his open judgment of her notebook and returning it with a suspicious narrowing of eyes, Midori shielded the book with the bend of her arm, pen poised so he couldn't see what she wasn't even writing yet. Midori's nose wrinkled in frustration, staring down at the lines of the paper as she idly drew out a tiny few loops in the margin. The topic seemed almost absurdly easy, she couldn't tell how it was supposed to help, yet she didn't know where to start. "Animal," she repeated to herself, mentally running through a list of animals. None really jumped out at her.
'I don't like fish' she wrote in the middle of the page, frowning before adding, 'because they smell.' At least it was a start.
