Her parents were worried, and for all the wrong reasons. Midori really had more pressing matters than school, which was the very reason her grades had been slipping so drastically over the last couple months. Homework turned in half finished, falling asleep during lectures after nights of fighting off monsters that didn't seem to want to leave her alone, and skipping some classes completely when she could get away with it (until the school called her parents and then she never heard the end of it.)
She wasn't necessarily stupid, although had never been particularly studious before her life became far more complicated than that of a typical high schooler's. But studying to secure a position at a good university was becoming more and more trivial in the grander scheme of things. But when her parents, as strict as they were concerned, presented her with an ultimatum- get tutoring and bring her grades up or get kicked out of the house- Midori realized she couldn't blow it off completely.
Arriving at the library, almost ten minutes late and unapologetically so as she set her book bag down on the table in front of Takeo.
