"I just do," he answered simply. "And you have done some pretty stupid things, so that's good." It was hard to call someone who spent hours staring at the stars and swearing it was fun not occasionally observational. He had picked up on the color from the years they had spent together. Actually, when he thought about it, it could've easily just been her mother's favorite color if she had been buying the clothes for her. However, there were some colors that just seemed to stick to a person. Even if it wasn't her favorite color, it blended with her school house and it was one he was used to seeing her in. The familiarity of that was pleasant. No sense in changing something that worked.
Her sizing was a little more difficult to obtain without a tape measure, but he always had a knack for picking up on that as well. At least when it came to her. Whatever he failed to figure out just by judging visually, he made up by touching a bit or sneakily checking tags while he was helping with a telescope. Were it anyone else, it probably would've seemed at least a little suspicious, but he was careful. If only he could apply that same caution to the rest of their lives. Deciding it was much too cold to keep standing still, Mitch offered to take the cookie plate back from her before he started walking again.
"But what do you want to do? We'll have all day. It's been irritating to still have everyone here, but there just doesn't seem to be anything to really do." Especially when he had just spent the first few days of their break avoiding her. The boy sighed, trying to think of ideas. There had been too much else on his mind to really bother with the matter. However, now was a better time than any. "We could hunt down Grigg and bury him in the snow."
