"Probably something with a lot of pictures," she suggested after some consideration, choosing to ignore the tone of indignation in his voice. While she was sincere in her offer, she hadn't thought it all the way through and hadn't expected Michel to actually be interested. But it only reminded Mabelle that she couldn't actually write very well, or at least in a very scholarly manner that she was otherwise capable of reading but not reproducing. She had mostly only written letters or short notes on things she wanted to remember, but while her handwriting was neat and legible, her organization of words on paper usually left something to be desired. "For my sake, not yours," she clarified, not trying to suggest she thought so low of his reading comprehension.
"Do you like stories?" she asked curiously, trying to get an idea of what he'd like. "I know some interesting ones from far away ancient lands, like Egypt or Greece. Or stories from the new world. I don't know if any of them are true, though."
