He seriously doubted that a warm bath was anything like swimming in a river or pond. However, that wasn't a conclusion he reached through experience. "I've never had time for swimming." Which basically translated to he didn't know how to very well either. There were hot summer days where he and a few other kids attempted to splash around in the water, but it never lasted long before he was fussed at to get back to work with whatever he was doing at the time. He never felt like he was really missing out, because walking around soaking wet afterwards was never comfortable. "I don't think I will," he frowned, shaking his head. As a grown man, it seemed silly, especially when there was plenty else to do.
"And yes, I know how to read," he answered, this time offended even by the inoffensive. Her curiosity was justified though. Had it not been for the fact his father and uncle (and his uncle more so than his father) had specialized in writing he wouldn't have had anyone to teach him. And even then his own spelling and understanding of rarer words were something to be desired. Between short hand writing and fiddling with written music, he didn't need it much. At least he learned quickly when there was something he didn't recognize though. It was science and anything beyond basic math that was unfortunately lost on him. "But what you write?"
