He had just been unable to keep himself from doing so without really thinking about it. However, he did force himself to play the measures again at a slower tempo for her to understand everything. This did help his tapping to slow as well. "Like that. Play it like that."

To hell with what he's trying to do." The thought would've sounded nice in any other context. However, his motives were clearly inspired by what she had said about not being bothered.
