As someone who had worked in repairing instruments for long enough, he knew that certain methods were crucial in achieving a desired result. However, he didn't really see why one couldn't just paint it all down at once the first time rather than in layers. It was just a vase, after all. Who need outlines for something as simply shaped as that? Not that he could really say much for his ambiguous blob that was only now starting to look like something with her help.
