Cooking is... more complicated than initially believed, but I feel like half the issue are these appliances. Maybe I should learn how to use them first.

I had expected the biggest danger to be Lady or Nymeria crowding the kitchen, but they seem content to sit and watch when they're awake.

At least until I cut myself, and then they were both in looking for the threat.

I'm used to a stove, but the first time I tried using a microwave, I nearly set it on fire.

Apparently there are things you're not meant to put in the little box. I didn't put the top on this slicy thing either.

For me, it was not realizing how quickly it cooked. Slicy thing?

Yes, that was surprising. The lack of fire and boiling it's just ... helpful. It's the processor? The round container with the blades inside, and the slices all the things down to little things.

I've found I still prefer a stove top or an oven, but it can be handy if you're in a hurry. Oh, that. I don't have much experience using one of those, but I know what you mean. My cooking tends to be a little less involved. I can work a blender; it's a little like a processor but serves a different function.

Things taste a little better from the cooker. Although I do like how quickly these devices can cut things down. I didn't really think I'd be terribly bothered about cooking, but I think I understand why some people find it enjoyable.

They do. Blenders are good for making milkshakes. If you're not familiar with those, they're made out of ice cream and you drink instead of eat it. Cooking can be relaxing when you know what you're doing. And sometimes when you don't.

Milkshake. I don't think I've had one of those. Are they nice? The food and drink here is wildly different from what I'm used to. It's interesting, at least, learning. And I think it's nice for Diana, to come home and not worry about making something.

If you're looking for something sweet, it's nice, and there are a lot of flavors you can add depending on individual tastes. I've only known her a short while since I've been here, but I'm sure she appreciates anything you're able to make even if she would be okay making something herself too.

Sweet is good. In Winterfell there's not a lot of sweet things, that more something that's found in Kings Landing. I've had strawberries. Diana brought home a dessert one evening, it had them on it. She's been so very kind since I arrived, I like being able to contribute something.

If you liked the strawberries, you can mix some into a milkshake, too. They can also be good on waffles. I can understand that, wanting to contribute.

Yes, for breakfast. I can bring some strawberries the next time I stop by for breakfast if you'd like.

That would be wonderful. What other things do people usually have with waffles?

Syrup is the most common; or different flavors of syrup or other types of fruit besides strawberries. Some even go for chocolate drizzled on them, but that's no longer breakfast for me.

This sounds like it would be a very broad options. I like that you could pick your own preference. Would you like to maybe do this sometime this week? I can practice using the waffle maker.

I'm wondering, with these booklets of instructions, why they're in so many languages. Is it the same each time? Do I need to understand the symbols too?

[info]grewupquickly

It's the same. Since not everyone reads English, they provide the instructions for other common languages.
