He’s human. Back home...there was a cure. One cure. I got it for him and Elena. It’s a long story involving prison worlds and timelines.

Very. I was 16 and the most exciting thing was football games. God that was almost 10 years ago. Thanks for making me feel old.

CliffsNotes? There was one. We went through hell (metaphorical) to get it. Elena used it to take a long time enemy out of play. Then...I got stuck in a prison world where it still existed because it was in the past. So, I went and got it and gave it to Damon for him and Elena when I got out.

There is a lot of stuff that happened in between and after, but after Elena took it, the guy I was stuck in the prison world with put her into a coma. Once the a vampire in our world is cured the cure is in their blood. It took years for me to figure out how to wake her up and by then the cure had been taken from her and given to Damon, but that's irrelevant. The important part is? The Entity brought Elena here from right when she was knocked into that coma. So, she still has the cure.

Being around century-old vampires should be a good way not to feel too old most of the time.

Wow. Even in my world, I've never heard of anything that would cure someone of being a vampire. Having a soul is unheard of enough.
