Rule of Horror #81: Always ask why the house is being sold so cheap.

I'd consider $200 rent falling into that category, which puts us potentially in the supernatural sub-genre, particularly the sub-sub-genre dealing with entities rather than creatures. Among the surprisingly short list of paranormal horror films set in New York City is Rosemary's Baby, Dark Water, and the Devil's Advocate, as well as Dario Argento's 1980 cult classic Inferno which, due to its connections to Suspiria and the not-really-a-twist ending, could also be considered paranormal.

So here are my questions: Has anyone checked the water tank and has anyone found any strange old books written in Italian yet?

Herbert Wyndham, the High Evolutionary. I use Kinney for paperwork. That's my mother's name.

Whoa. Doesn't ring a bell. But I didn't think it would. I am, however, definitely starting to realize that I'm not in Kansas anymore. Things like healing factors don't really exist where I'm from and chaos magic is more a theory than something that actually works. So this is... different. Not bad different, just different different.

And I'm rambling. I'm sorry.

So the Evolutionaries are a... religion?

There's a lot of different kinds of super power. Stephen's are magic too, and Stark is from Asgard but he uses a lot of technology too, and Peter's came from a spider totem.

Stark says it's a cult but I'm not really sure what the difference is.

I'd like to think despite being a normal, I've got some power too. Not magic, no, but I'm really good with a crowbar.

All religions start out either as cults or sects and the only difference between the two is that sects split off from a larger, established, religion whereas cults are usually smaller and more insular. But cults get a bad rep. That's why the FBI started classifying them as New Religious Movements instead, to keep the inherent stigma of the word down to a manageable minimum.

Blunt force trauma can be effective. That’s mostly what Peter does.

I suppose that makes sense. Though it’s really more of an old religious movement.

It's worked for me so far.

It sounds interesting, at least? My parents are Lutheran and non-practicing Jewish so y'know, not the most outrageous religious beliefs.
