Rule of Horror #81: Always ask why the house is being sold so cheap.

I'd consider $200 rent falling into that category, which puts us potentially in the supernatural sub-genre, particularly the sub-sub-genre dealing with entities rather than creatures. Among the surprisingly short list of paranormal horror films set in New York City is Rosemary's Baby, Dark Water, and the Devil's Advocate, as well as Dario Argento's 1980 cult classic Inferno which, due to its connections to Suspiria and the not-really-a-twist ending, could also be considered paranormal.

So here are my questions: Has anyone checked the water tank and has anyone found any strange old books written in Italian yet?

Best to stock up on salt, then. Just in case. Seen anywhere around here to buy Palo Santo? Just in case things go weird.

Salt won't really h Not sure what that is, but I'll keep an eye out.

Oh. It's wood. You burn it, like sage.

My abuela swears by it, but honestly, I don't know. I've never been haunted so it must?

Do you know how to attract them? I'm looking for someone.

I know the theories but I've never had any reason to apply them practically. There are "games" (technically rituals stylized into games) that are said to open places up to spirits, but it's kind of a crapshoot on what's going to come through. I could think of a couple that might be able to be modified to have a more specific result but aside from using an Ouija board, it's still a bit sketchy.

Which isn't to say I couldn't, or wouldn't, do it. Just that if I get possessed I'm coming after you.

Actually, I saw a ghost during an ayahuasca trip once so it might be.

As much as I appreciate a good case of breit sein, I'm going to need another option here.

Like I said, ritual. In lieu of an Ouija board, I'm going to need a ragdoll, some red thread, a bag of rice, and a bathtub. And mugwort.

As much as I want to see what happens, I feel like I should draw the line at drowning?

I'm not going into the bathtub, the doll is.

What's the doll done to you?!

HA! Nothing. Water is just a very common gateway between realms... this side and the other side... so the doll acts as a proxy or a vessel to bring the spirit back to this side. I'm assuming the sprit that you're looking for is one that doesn't live here, so you've gotta drag it over. And then... Honestly, I don't know what happens then. But there's supposed to be a way to put it back so hopefully that works.

Unless you wanna play the Elevator Game? Which is supposed to bring you to them instead of them to you.

Hard pass. No self-respecting brother of mine is going to ride a doll into the next world. Can you make it a Kraken fi

The whole portal to other dimensions game, yeah. Not without a toke.

OH. This is for your brother. I suppose we could try a mirror? I need matte black spray paint and a picture frame for that.

But if you've got weed, I'll be happy to ride along with that too. We're already breaking about six different horror rules, might as well make it seven.

Maybe the fucker's just chilling it in the apocalypse, because he can't be lonely with six billion other ghosts that have unfinished business and died cruelly and suddenly and are tethered to places they couldn't really care less about.

I am breaking soooo many rules, but we could toke up, and hopes my brother shows up to express his disappointment in me?

Six billion seems a conservative estimate but I get your point.

I've found that the people you want to see usually show up at the worst possible time and expressing disappointment is a common reaction. But I'm always down for getting high.

You have no idea.

By the way, God is a black preteen who raided Blossom's closet.

If I were to believe in God, which I'm still on the other side of the fence about, that would make perfect sense.

I've always been a strict atheist. Which is funny, because I have a half dozen different religions running through my family and I decided to choose none of them.

I bet my dad would like the idea of your version of God, though.

Take it from me, being spoiled for choice doesn't help. It's like me with cannabis strains.

I can see how a preteen with a bicycle and handlebar streamers could appeal to people. She just needs a makeover, stat.
