Hey, I need to talk to you about James.

[Tony Stark]
Tell me I'm doing the right thing here.

James Rogers is moving in with us, just so you know. He's not too happy where he is and I don't feel like the kids' floor is the best place for him.

Okay, I think? I mean, I don't know Old Me but I don't think I'll have a problem with it.

Does he need help setting up his room and stuff or is this more of a "leave the kid alone" thing?

I don't really feel like it, we've had other roommates before.

He's not bring on materialism, I don't think he actually has much to set up.

Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I don't have a lot of experience with roommates- other than my uncle? Every time he breaks up with a girlfriend, he comes to stay with me and Dad for a while before he's back out on his own.

I'll go spray some air freshener in those other rooms. At least whichever one he picks won't smell stale.

It went okay. I know you've been to college so I assume you probably had dormmates at some point, and I'm pretty adaptable.

Yeah, probably a good idea. I think Liz might want to stay for a couple of days too, she's been with Tony since she de-aged and he doesn't remember it now. Chances are at least one of them will go back to normal soon though.

He asked if he could move in with me and I said he could.

I don't think it's necessarily personal. It's probably just easier with me since he didn't grow up hearing stories about me so there aren't any real expectations. He's been struggling a bit since he first got here, I've already seen all kinds of teenage moodiness from him, so he doesn't have to worry that he's going to disappoint me or anything.

I see.

If that's what he wants, I'm not going to stand in the way. I know I'm not I just want him to be happy.

Happy might be kind of a high bar right now He comes from the same kind of shit I do, and I'm twice his age. I doubt he knows how he feels half the time.

That might just be all the more reason to allow him some agency where we can.

I'm not sure you really need my blessing, but you have it, either way.

It's easier when you have somewhere you don't have to pretend

Thanks.
