Vanya's back. Based on her clothes, I don't think she's been to her concert yet, which means she doesn't know how it went. Or how it ended. Or what she did. ~~I don't know how aware she was at that point~~

And I haven't told her. ~~It was hard enough to tell her the world was going to end~~

I did tell her we're all here. She knows that much.

I'm guessing the room was an anechoic chamber given Vanya's powers. I don't know how much you knew about her powers at the time, but if you did know she had anything related to sound, an anechoic chamber isn't really the best place for her, or anyone else who can control sound. When someone is in an anechoic chamber, they become the sound. Essentially the human body adjusts (which is in and of itself fascinating but better left to another time) to the lack of noise. It then is able to hear incredibly quiet noises, such as its own heartbeat or the blood flowing through its veins. Noises the human body creates itself. The human body becomes sound. This isn't even to say how maddening being in such a room can be given how the human body uses sound to orient itself in the space around it. Essentially, though not used for it, an anechoic chamber is a torture room for even the most average of people.

I wasn't there. I don't know what happened. I don't know what prompted her being locked in a room. I didn't even know we had that room (but Dad was good at keeping his secrets, as was Pogo). But I do know she's upset with you. And I know you're not a malicious person. You try to do what you think is right.

I'm not going to berate you. I don't know what happened, and I don't know what you were thinking. I won't say it was the right thing to do at the time, but I can understand. I don't have to like something to understand the reasoning behind it. But as someone Dad used to lock up, give her time. She'll need it. In the meantime, all you can do is your best. Show her via respecting her decision. I won't say don't apologize for whatever you've done, but don't push. And be understanding, which I know you can be. She just needs time. It's all so fresh for her.

Sometimes I wonder how much Dad really knew about our powers and how they work. Maybe under different circumstances it could have been the right call. I don't know. There's no way to know now if things would have played out differently. And none of us knew what would happen. ~~I should have~~ There was just so much we didn't know. He never told us. Never prepared us. Even when I was gone, he never prepared any of you. Not properly. ~~Maybe this is what he wanted~~ ~~Maybe we weren't meant to save the world.~~

	Ultimately it's her call. Just remember you aren't the only one who's done terrible things. That might be a better motto for the Umbrella Academy than poorly worded Latin we've got now, which has bugged me for years, but that's neither here nor there right now. (Reply to this) (Parent)
