Now that things are quieter I should introduce myself.

My name is Andromeda Tonks. I'm a Healer so I went straight to the edge of the maze to help.

I know a few people here already but for everyone else, it's lovely to meet you.

[Sirius]

Things have calmed down.

Shall we meet?

It was vile. But it wasn't until Hogwarts I believed anything different. I had no frame of reference and well, I looked up to Bellatrix. That was before I knew what she was, obviously.

It took a wonderful little group of Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws to show me it was different. I saw them as people, as equals for the first time.

And then one of those Hufflepuff's went and asked me out.

Sirius had it easier in a way, with his sorting. It was a shock to everyone but I knew it was the best thing for him.

I've often thought he's the most Gryffindor of us all put together for being Sorted the way he was. Nothing braver than going against your family's expectations like that.

Hogwarts itself is special like, though. It really gives everyone the opportunity to learn more about themselves in a way they never would otherwise. I know my life is completely different than the one I would have had if I hadn't gone there.

Oh the hat was right about him most definitely.

I'd had a foolish hope I'd be placed in Ravenclaw, it had been on my mind and the hat mentioned it but settled on Slytherin. But honestly, the traits of my House don't automatically make one a purist or a death eater. One can be cunning and ambitious without being a murderer.

I don't feel I need to deny my House. I used to.

I completely agree. There's nuance to every House and while I confess I might have thought that Slytherin was worst than the others at one point, I don't think that way anymore.

Neither do I think every Gryffindor is necessarily destined to be a hero and always do the just thing. There's a lot more to one's character than their House.

Most people do think so. And many of my Housemates don't help that reputation any. I hope it's different in the future.

Exactly. The sorting is, I suppose, placing us where it thinks we will best learn. Not being sorted Ravenclaw doesn't mean I'm unintelligent. It simply means it felt I would learn better in Slytherin.

Or maybe it just thought it would be easier for me. Can you imagine if I'd been sorted anywhere else with Bellatrix watching?

I hope so too.

Yes, I do think there's some choice involved too. Or at least that's what I've heard. It seriously considered Hufflepuff for me for a while.

That sounds like a nightmare.

It was somewhat yes. Even at school she was...difficult.

I'm going to talk to Sirius. I'll find out all I can, try and convince him to talk to you too.
