So this is normal around here, then?

The scenery change.

I assume by the general lack of surprise that this is a fairly routine occurrence?

I suppose it would, wouldn't it? No one wants to be stuck in Manhattan forever.

Though I do wonder where exactly in the world we are right now...

Somewhere near the tropics, I think. Probably western hemisphere given almost all the signage is in English.

You don't say.

Half the signs are also in Spanish but I understand why you wouldn't notice that.

Does a lot of weird stuff like this happen back at home?

If you remove the aliens from the situation, we still have a lot of weird going on, yeah. Interesting creatures, nightmare dimensions, vampire-flies, the grade-school teacher who might not be human. And I'd heard that the sky was supposed to be blue more often than not, but back home that's a rarity. It's usually a nice, ominous shade of red.

Wait a minute...you have actual aliens in your world?

My neighbor is an alien. Irken, specifically. They're a little-known nomadic species that primarily operates from a mobile spaceport.

That happen where you're from a lot? I just get world-ending apocalypses.

It was a weekly thing for a while there, but it's mostly calmed down.

World-ending apocalypses sound... world-ending. I went through one of those. It's always a really rad time. I take it you were able to thwart it, though?

Hey, that's good to hear.

They tried to be. Every time so far. And unlike a couple blondes I know, I never had to die to do it.

Sup, I'm Faith.

My dad used to say you have to make your routine work for you, instead of trying to work for your routine. I suppose, given his success, he might have a point in there somewhere.
