I suppose this is, at the very least, an experience Galileo would soil himself over.

Are you enjoying your new surroundings, Mr. Holmes?

Not in the slightest. Terribly humbling.

I agree. This is perhaps too much adventure...even for me.

I confess that is surprising to hear from you, Ms. Bennet.

It is overwhelming? I had only just become accustomed to our modern setting.

The extremes are jarring, indeed.

You are free, as always, to join me in the library for some familiarity.

It makes it quite difficult to keep your bearings.

That would be far preferable than attempting to explore.

Indeed. I'd only grown accustomed to the aggravating sounds of the twenty-first century.

The door is, as always, open. Actually, I have found a book in my collection that may perhaps interest you.

Everything in this century is very bright and loud. Fortunately, I am not accustomed to the quiet. Silence is a luxury when you have four sisters and an excitable mother.

Oh? Tell me of this book, then.

I shudder to think. The Holmes household was far less boisterous.

There is a poet, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, who comes from a century or so after you. Her collection is, evidently, in my library... I suspect left by my mother with great purpose on a previous visit.

Even with Enola flittering about?

I look forward to reading it. Will you also tell me of your mother? She sounds like someone whose company I would quite enjoy.

She did change things, though I admit my brother and I did not spend much time with her.

If you like to hear tales of disastrous women with agendas, certainly.

I can not imagine refraining from spending time with my siblings.

Disastrous women with agendas make for the best stories, Sherlock.

Simply was the way it was. We had our respective lessons, Enola had hers. She was much too young for us to fraternise with.

Yes, I suspected you would say as much.

That is almost sad in a manner of speaking. Perhaps more for her than either of you.

I look forward to hearing your tale.

Allow me to share something with you: she abandoned Enola, left a puzzle for her to solve, and I daresay will not be heard from again.

I do not, at present, have a personally high opinion of her.
