WHO: Lydia Martin & Allison Argent
WHERE: outside OV
WHEN: Sun, Dec 1
WARNINGS: injuries and death for right now
SPOILERS? TW season 3? and 4, 5, 6...

At least quitting her job had netted Lydia more time to study. The semester was ending next week and she had finals pretty much every day. After that, she could talk to Rogue about tutoring the girls and be in a good place still for existing in Goodland. Still, she felt prepared and flipping through her notes just seemed like the responsible thing to do rather than a necessity. Some of this she could do in her sleep. Curled up at her desk, she slipped into almost a trance as she turned the pages until a thought popped into her head. Allison.

As soon as she acknowledged it, it grew stronger, more insistent. Allison! It threatened to bubble out of her, almost like... Eyes widening, she stood. Allison was dying, and she was here. She was out of the apartment in a flash, wishing they still lived on the first floor as she started down the stairs. No time to wait for the elevator, no time for any of this, but she was going as fast as she could. Popping out into the lobby, she kept going, pushing through the doors without pausing. She was close, Lydia's hair whipping around as she searched for Allison on the street. "Allison?" It really was her. Now was not the time to marvel at whatever the entity was doing, and she crouched next to her, placing one hand over the front of the wound as the other moved around to her shoulders. She hadn't been there last time to see how bad it was, to know what to do now. "There's a clinic just inside, okay? You can make it that far. I'm here to help you."

There was something she needed to tell Scott. Something important that she needed her dad to know, but the words caught on her tongue and went unsaid. The thought itself was something that she couldn't quite grasp, even as she started to fade, not noticing the shifting of the world as Scott's face above her faded from view.

A hundred years or one second later, Lydia was on the edge of her field of vision, almost forcing herself there - which wasn't all that surprising, knowing her best friend. Lydia enjoyed being the center of attention, and Allison wanted to smile - but that was a lot of effort right now. Dimly, her mind began to catch up with her eyes and ears, and she just barely heard her friend.

"No I...I think I need to lay down," she said blearily, as though not realizing she was already laying on the ground - only now she was in Lydia's arms instead of Scott's. Was she hallucinating now? That seemed fitting.

"Is it morning yet?"

"Nope. No, Allison, no laying down." Lydia's voice was clipped and firm, even though she was freaking out inside. Grateful for the work she'd been doing at the gym, she put herself under Allison's arm and started to stand for the both of them. It might have been better to go into the clinic to bring someone out to help her, but there was no way Lydia was going to entertain that thought. Allison wasn't going to die this time, but if she was, she wouldn't be alone.

"You have to help me, just a little, and then you'll get to lay down in a nice warm bed." This was so, so bad but she kept a soothing tone through some miracle. Or perhaps just the wisdom of many more crises since this one.

A talking Allison was alive, so she tried to keep up with the conversation as they made halting progress toward the clinic. "Why does it matter if it's morning?"

Though she couldn't feel any pain from the stab wound - a fact that, in the back of her mind, meant that this was bad - Allison did groan just a little when she was pulled to her feet and leaned heavily against the shorter redhead. Her legs didn't seem to want to move right, so unfortunately Lydia had to handle the brunt of the directing and walking.

"S-safer. They don't like the..." Her words trailed off as Allison grimaced, squeezing her eyes shut because everything wanted to spin, and as a result the next word that came to her lips was, "carousel. Too fast." Dimly, a part of her knew that she wasn't making any sense and wanted to yell at herself for being so weak, but her teeth were gritted too hard for that to happen anytime soon, and she couldn't focus on one thought in particular.

"My dad - he needs to know. It's silver." She forced out, only vaguely aware as they crossed a doorway. "Argent," she murmured in French this time, a faint smile coming to her lips as the irony of the name struck her suddenly - though she'd known the truth about it for a couple years and had faced this fact long before now. "Tell him."

Flashes from those weeks leading up to this were coming back to Lydia now, but luckily she wasn't in the same delirium Allison was in. She could see the now-familiar lobby of the villa and she knew they were safe from that particular threat. They just needed to get Allison to the clinic, a feat that felt only slightly more impossible with each step. Stumbling a bit, she braced them both against the wall as they got deeper down the hall, using it as secondary support.

"We'll tell him, Allie. It's going to be okay. Look, you saved me. And now I'm going to save you, alright? Sam! Hannah!" She could only hope one of them would come running to help or at least prepare.

"It's okay. It's okay if you let me go," Allison murmured, repeating almost the same thing she'd said to Scott. Hearing her friend call out two unfamiliar hands, Allison's eyes cracked open, but then everything turned upside down again and she passed out before ever finding out who Sam and Hannah were.

The next time her eyes opened, everything was bright, and she gave a faint groan as they slid shut again. She felt...strange. But oddly better than the last time she remembered being awake, and confusion filled her gaze as it cracked open again slowly, focusing on the ceiling above her. Moving to push herself up as she started to look around, the brunette stopped partway when she spotted a red head of hair.

"Lydia? Where are we? Oh god - are you okay?" Her memory may have been a little fuzzy, but she remembered the reason why she and the others had gone looking for the nogitsune and Lydia - her friend had been missing, possibly hurt. "What happened?"

It felt like years that she'd been shut out from the inner workings of what they were doing to Allison. Sitting in the waiting room, writing to everyone else while Allison's blood dried on her hands, clothes, and phone. Finally, they'd let Lydia in, though it was a while still until she woke. She startled to hear her name come out of Allison's mouth, tears rising in her eyes at the sound of it. She'd missed that.

'What happened?' That was a loaded question, and 'you died' was a bad answer. Lydia's mouth opened and closed a few times as she struggled to process what to say. Realizing that none of this was a very comforting answer, she reached out to take Allison's hand, the blood long since cleared off. "I'm fine." Lydia squeezed gently as she smiled. That was the easier question.

"What happened is that this place isn't Beacon Hills." Some bandaids could be ripped off, right? "What also happened is that you're going to be okay now."

"Good," Allison breathed out softly. There was something different about Lydia, but she couldn't quite name it. Instead of focusing on that, she returned the hand squeeze as her brow furrowed at her friend's words as she went on.

"Not Beacon - but we..." Shaking her head in disbelief, further questions were forestalled by what Lydia said next. "I'm..." Her memory solidified itself then and Allison let go of Lydia's hand to push down the sheet covering her. She found herself in a hospital scrubs - thankfully a two piece set - and she hurriedly pulled up the edge of the top to check her wound. Finding nothing but smooth skin, Allison lay one hand over the spot, and looked back up.

"How the hell long have I been asleep?" She asked in wonder, because the first thing that made sense was that she'd somehow healed while in a coma.

Wouldn't that have been nice? If Allison was the same age as Lydia—if all of it had been a terrible nightmare and instead Allison had been sleeping peacefully while she healed? Lydia sat on the edge of the bed, hoping her familiar face would help soften the blow that was coming. "Only a few hours. That's part of not being in Beacon Hills. This place has magic." At least they were from a place where previously-thought-weird shit happened. "That's one of the working theories on how we all got here. Something called the Jubilant Entity grabbed us out of time and brought us here. I'm from the summer after senior year." She watched Allison carefully, trying to make sure she said enough but not too much. "The nogitsune and the oni are gone, they have been for a while back home and they're not here at all. We're safe."

Allison still had one hand pressed to her stomach as she stared at Lydia for a long moment, taking all of that in. Finally, she broke into a small smile. "Okay - I know that we have seen a lot of crazy, supernatural things, but...that's way past the mark even for us. So you're joking, right? That doesn't really make any sense at all."

Except the last part, about the nogitsune and the oni, and that was the part she decided to latch onto. "You're sure about them? Is Stiles okay? And Isaac? They cut him so many times, I thought he...I thought they killed him," Allison said softly has her smile completely disappeared.

"There was a letter, but I didn't grab it because I was too busy saving your life," she replied dryly, though it was all mostly an act. "It'd explain this place and tell you what apartment you're going to be living in. So now you get the me-version." Except she didn't know where Allison lived. They could find the letter later.

"I am absolutely sure. Stiles is fine—he's here too, has been for months. Isaac just got here, he's from earlier than you. But he ended up fine and is just as fine here. Sheriff Stilinski is here, too, and Cora and Scott and Derek. All fine. I think you have the most dramatic entrance so far out of us."

Her shoulders didn't relax until Lydia confirmed that everyone else was okay, though she still felt a little blindsided by all of the information. Still, she hated being told stories in bits and pieces - so this was infinitely better. Sort of.

"Thank you," she decided to go with first, because since they weren't in immediate danger and no one else was either, she could acknowledge the fact that Lydia had saved her. Letting go of the shirt, she reached out to squeeze her friend's hand again, smiling a little. "I'm pretty sure I really was about to die back there." In fact, she thought she had - but if she was here, then that was what mattered.

"Weird mix of people - I thought Cora was out of the country? Kira made it through okay, right?" The whole 'year later' thing could wait for a few minutes longer, at least. "And how could Stiles have been here for months - or Isaac be from...earlier?"

Lydia held tight to Allison's hand, looking up at the ceiling as she took a deep breath and braced herself for what she had to say before meeting her friend's eyes. "The thing is... you did die. This is not the afterlife, because I'm not dead and from your perspective you haven't died yet, you just got taken from right before. And because of that, we were able to save you."

"This place is ... unexplainable. At a certain point, you have to accept you won't know the how" which sucked, "and keep going anyway. You're here, and you're back home. None of us are from the exact same moment, though Stiles' dad and I are only a few days off." This was not going how she wanted it to go.

"Wait, what?" Allison exclaimed as she met Lydia's gaze, the blood draining from her face. Her mind worked quickly to connect what Lydia was saying now to what she'd said before about time and everything, and she shook her head slowly.

"So what you're saying is...I'm about to die? Is this a kind of purgatory? Or - like in the Nemeton?" Was she even awake right now? She had been doing her own share of hallucinating at home, which she hadn't mentioned since there had been so much else going on, but now...Allison had to wonder if this was even real.

Yep, Lydia had really messed this one up. She just had to keep talking until this place made sense... which might take a while. "It's not purgatory, because not all of us were almost dying before we came here. Remember how I'm here from later?" She'd just keep repeating that until Allison got it. "From after graduation? Stiles is from even later. I never disappeared for him. I didn't die. Somehow we're all here and there."

Her grip tightened, trying to ground Allison and keep her here. "And you're not about to die. Not while you're here, because I'm not going to let it. If we're in both places, then the us that is here can't return. Or else we'd remember. So you're here and you're alive and you're staying that way." She'd force it through will alone if she had to.

"But...how can we be in two places at once? There and here?" She was still confused, but the physical touch helped push back the black despair that threatened to overtake her - whether it was thanks to that ice bath she, Stiles, and Scott had taken, or because of her impending death just moments after she'd been brought here, apparently, she didn't really know. But it helped, and she was able to keep from breaking down entirely because Lydia was there and holding onto her.

"Is this like that nogitsune? Did something replace us back there?" Or was this just going to be her life from now on - and the only one she'd get, now?

"None of us really knows. But we're all pretty certain it's the truth, even if we don't know how." Maybe at some point she'd get to the fact that they weren't alone with Beacon Hills residents here... or maybe that could wait until later. Yea, later.

"Personally, I think of it like a copy. Not something supernatural replacing us, just another version of ourselves here. It doesn't just copy people, it copies things, too." Reaching under her shirt, Lydia drew out the arrowhead the Entity had given her, the one she kept on a chain around her neck at all times. Allison's arrowhead. "See, I've had this for a few months."

It still didn't make sense, but knowing that her friends were okay went a long way in keeping her steady - as did seeing the arrowhead Lydia pulled out. Blinking, she let go of the hand to reach out and touch the arrowhead itself, fingering it slightly and the mark on it. She knew it was hers because it was from her mold, but of the five she'd made, only one had been ready to take for the fight against the oni. The other four had still been setting.

"I just made this," she said softly, and her dark brown eyes rose to meet Lydia's again just over the tip of the arrowhead. "You said that the oni are gone. How did...Did this work? The arrowheads? I tried to tell..tell Scott. I think. Some of it's still a little fuzzy."

"You did it. You helped us figure it out, that the bullets didn't work because they passed through, and your arrowheads would stay. We used the rest of the arrows to kill them. Scott gave the nogitsune the bite, which let Kira stab him, and Isaac captured the leftover fly." They worked better as a team, and Allison was still part of the team in Lydia's mind. She'd helped them with the deadpool in her own way, too.

"In the end, though, we'd lost you and Aiden, and nearly Stiles." There was a pain in her expression, and a pang of guilt that most of it was for Allison and Stiles rather than Aiden.

"Thank god," she breathed out - without any of that, then there would have been no way at all to get Stiles back, and that had been a priority for all of them. Slowly lowering the arrowhead and letting it dangle back against Lydia's chest, she reached over and wrapped her arms around her friend.

"I'm sorry - about all of it. And about Aiden." She knew that Lydia had cared for him - that they had been something. Losing anyone at all had to have been awful.

The hug broke what was left of Lydia's composure, and she clung fiercely to Allison, knowing her wounds had been healed and it wouldn't hurt her to do so. "I missed you so much. We all did." Nothing had been the same without Allison, everything had gone off the rails after they lost her.

"I'm just so happy you're here now. You've got a chance here to keep living your life. Without as many weird things happening, but still some weird things happening so we don't get bored."

When the redhead's grip tightened, Allison closed her eyes and didn't complain, instead just holding onto Lyds as she let out a quiet sigh. "I wish I knew what to say," she replied finally, because really - what could you say to that? 'I missed you too' didn't fit, and neither was her apology, or a thank you. Instead, she hoped just being around would make up for things, somehow.

"I'm happy I'm here, too." If they weren't in Beacon Hills, then there was no more supernatural beacon, right? No more danger at every turn. "You're gonna have to show me around this place. But first, I'm starving. I guess dying helps work up an appetite, huh? Why don't you see if you can find some food and then tell me about this place?"
