Bucky still didn’t trust Goodland, didn’t trust whatever brought him there, but he couldn’t stay trapped in some apartment where he didn’t really know half the people who lived in it. At least he had Steve, so he wasn’t completely on his own with strangers. But he still couldn’t stay there, needed to get out, the fresh air helpful and it was good to walk around and get his bearings.
And then there was a kid. A kid with a cat and no adult in sight. Bucky hesitated, looking around to see if he’d missed whoever might be with her, but there wasn’t anyone. Just a cat. And there was a floaty note nearby like he’d had when he showed up. He approached her carefully, gaze flickering around to keep an eye out. “Hey kid, you okay?”
