WHO: Neopolitan & Eleven.
WHAT: Chatting, having lunch, and who knows what else.
WHEN: Saturday.
WHERE: Out in town.
WARNINGS: TBD.
STATUS: Closed/Ongoing.

Ever since Roman's death, Neo hadn't exactly had the best sleep. She kept having nightmares about him and usually kept waking up here and there throughout the night. Last night wasn't any different and she woke up at two in the morning before finally falling back to sleep a few hours later.

By the time she woke up again, it was the afternoon. Since she skipped breakfast and lunch, she woke up starving. Rather than just having something from the fridge, she decided to go out instead. Quickly getting dressed, she was ready and left, heading down into the lobby. It was here she spotted someone familiar and she waved at Eleven in greeting. Neo wasn't a fan of kids, but they had met and chatted at the wedding, and Eleven seemed alright. Neo didn't mind her too much.

Eleven didn't really consider herself a kid. She was, she knew that she was a child based on her age. But her life hadn't given her much of a childhood. Even with Hopper, she wasn't really a typical kid. She was wise beyond her years, and she'd seen and done things many people wouldn't and couldn't do in a lifetime, despite being just 14.

Eleven smiled and waved back at Neo. She liked Neo. She liked that she didn't have to use her voice with Neo. She didn't mind talking, but she liked not talking better. Words were hard sometimes. She wouldn't bother Neo if the other girl had something she needed to do, but there was no harm in saying a quick hello.

Neo was about to take out her phone when she realized she didn't have to do that with Eleven. The younger girl seemed to have some sort of telepathic powers and they could communicate via the mind rather than Neo typing everything. It was a lot easier, but Neo still watched what she thought. She didn't mind, but she didn't want Eleven to know everything.

Hey. I was just heading to lunch. If you're not busy or anything, want to join me? Yeah, this was much better than using a phone. If only Neo had a similar ability.

Eleven's telepathic powers were strong. She didn't make a habit of prying into other people's minds, though, because that just wasn't cool. She didn't want someone invading her mind like that, so she tried not to do it to others. But when it was the easiest means of communication, why not utilise it?

I'd like that, she responded without saying a word. It was definitely a time saver with Neo. El was careful not to venture into her mind beyond the surface thoughts.

El smiled and gestured toward the street. She missed Mike and the other kids from their group, but she was getting used to life in Goodland. She was making new friends, and that helped a lot.

As long as Eleven didn't pry into her mind too much, Neo was fine with using this way to communicate. There were just some things she'd rather keep private, and the only person who knew most of those things was now dead.

Great, I'm starving, she grinned as she lead the way out onto the streets. So how are things? How's school? Er, you do go to school here, right? She seemed the age but maybe she didn't go yet or was homeschooled or something. Neo had no idea.

El followed. She was glad she was meeting people, and doing things. Neo wasn't the first person she'd gone to get food with. Food seemed like a good way to spend time with people, to get to know them.

And it was especially nice when she didn't have to use words. Thoughts were so much easier for her. I'm going to school. it's fine. I like it okay. She didn't really like sitting in a classroom, but she liked that no one was forcing her to use her powers to do things no child had any business even knowing about, much less doing.

Neo nodded. That's good. From what I hear, school is different than it is where I'm from. We learned how to fight monsters instead of history and all that. Well, there was history about Hunters and Grimm, but it was still very different than here. At least, from what she knew.

They made it to a nearby diner, Neo finding them an empty booth to sit at. Glad it's going alright at least.

I never went to school before. Papa taught me what he thought I needed to know. Which was a polite way to explain her situation. But she didn't feel like she needed to tell everyone that she was used as a weapon from the day she was stolen out of her mother's arms.

Eleven slid into the seat and flipped the menu open. She would always favor Eggos straight from the toaster, but she was learning she liked other foods too. Most of the time when she went somewhere to eat, she found something she'd never had before.

Neo nodded. What sort of things did he teach you? she wondered curiously. She herself was taught more to survive, even if it meant stealing and even killing another person. And once in awhile, it wasn't to survive, she just enjoyed hurting people. But she kept that to herself, even telepathically.

The waitress came by and Neo ordered a burger, fries, and shake by pointing them out. The waitress was a bit confused but seemed to understand what Neo meant.

In a show of solidarity or something, El wasn't really even sure why, she ordered without speaking too. She pointed to what she wanted just as Neo had. It just seemed like the thing to do.

El liked Neo. She didn't want to make her feel inferior or anything by talking. or trying to explain why she didn't talk. Pointing worked just as well. Hopefully they'd both get what they actually asked for.

I think she thinks we're weird, El though. She didn't care. She learned early on she couldn't get caught up in worrying about what other people thought of her.

Neo wouldn't cared if Eleven had spoken. She was used to it and really, the people she did spend time with talked way to much. At least she didn't mind when Roman rambled on and on. But Cinder? Yeah, sometimes Neo wanted to stab her ears with a stick because the other woman was so annoying.

But she did appreciate what El did. Does she now? she raised an eyebrow before breaking in a mischievous grin. She turned to the waitress, using her Illusions on her. Soon she, and everyone else including Eleven, saw a bunch of spiders crawling all over her. She shrieked, trying to get them off, which amused Neo.

Eventually, though, she grew bored and dropped the illusion, the spiders falling and shattering like glass. The waitress glanced back and Neo just nodded towards the kitchen, as if reminding her to get their food before turning back to Eleven like nothing happened.

Hopefully, she gets our food soon. I'm so hungry. She probably shouldn't have skipped breakfast today.

Eleven barely reacted to the spiders. She had experienced illusions with Kali, and while she hadn't appreciated Kali using the illusions on her, she was impressed at the concept of it. That was something she couldn't do, as far as she knew, but there were other things she could do.

When Neo dropped the illusion, Eleven gave her a wide eyed look. That was interesting, she directed the thought to Neo. She didn't think the waitress really deserved that, because she was just trying to do her job, but Eleven was more inclined to stay quiet than cause a scene.

Neo didn't really care if the waitress deserved it or not. She honestly didn't care if she thought they were weird or made a mistake or anything. She was just bored and wanted to mess with someone. It could've easily been anyone, even Eleven herself, that was her target. So it was probably a good thing she didn't mind the younger girl.

Thanks. Unfortunately, it's the only ability I have. But it's different for everyone back home, she shrugged as sat back while the waitress put their food on the table. She grabbed a fry and popped it in her mouth. We call them Semblances. Mine's obviously Illusions, but I think people have telepathy and telekinesis too.

My sister can do that too Eleven said. She had never really tried. It wasn't something Papa made her do, so she didn't know if she could. She could do plenty of other things, though.

I can move things with my mind. Telekinesis. And telepathy, obviously. But I'm not like trying to read you. Just whatever you're thinking right now. I know this is easier for you, since you don't talk. And it would be weird for me to sit here talking to you when this is easier for you. Telepathy and telekinesis were just the surface of her abilities. Even she didn't know what she was truly capable of, only what Papa had made her do.

Really? That's cool. I don't know anyone with the same abilities as mine. No, everyone's was different and unique to each individual. Though she sometimes wondered why certain people had certain abilities. Was there a reason she could create illusions instead of, say, the ability to create fire? She had no idea.

She nodded. She knew Eleven wouldn't read her thoughts without permission. Still, Neo kept her guard up just in case. It is easier, she agreed. Definitely better than having to type everything on my phone. Kinda wish I had telepathy too. Sadly, she didn't. Oh well.
