Lizzie hailed a taxi and ended up in Goodland. She thought, at first, she fell asleep in the cab, but didn’t recognize the driver as the same one who picked her up. Was her mind that far gone after the day’s events? Sure, she dumped her boyfriend right after he proposed on her birthday and, yes, she called her parents in tears begging to leave New York and return home, but…

Could she really not recognize an entirely different driver? No, she couldn’t be that off her game. “Excuse me, excuse me,” she said to the driver, who remained silent until he dropped her off at Ostrich’s Villa. “What?” She asked. “No, no, I need to go to JFK! Hello?”

Inner Lizzie: So this is how I die! Can he hear me? Hello? HELLOOOOOOO? Lizzie waited for the driver to apologize and take her to the airport, but he merely shrugged and pointed to a letter that mysteriously popped into her lap.

Inner Lizzie: Right, normal. Perfectly normal. Am I dead? Is this note, like, telling me which way I’m going?

Lizzie shook her head. “No, this…” The driver cut her off as he yanked the door open and pointed to the building. “Oh, fine,” she muttered. She’d get a normal cab driver. She was obviously still in NYC even though she never saw Ostrich’s Villa before. Or…

Inner Lizzie: IS THAT AN OSTRICH? IN NYC? ON THE SIDEWALK?

Lizzie stared at the bird for a moment. “You are real. You are the feathered friend. No, no, impossible! I need to go!” She turned and stepped right into the giant bird’s poop.

Inner Lizzie: Ohhhhhhh, gross, if this place is magical, why is there POOP just laying around?

She flung her heels off and preceded, barefoot, to the apartment the letter listed. “No clothes,” she mumbled. “No shoes. Worst day ever. Worse than when Kate had the whole cheer-leading squad call me ugly.”

Lizzie let herself into the apartment and let out a little squeal. “Oh, I didn’t know someone would be here! Is this your place? I am so sorry! Some lunatic cab driver told me to get out and then this note said to come here and I’m so sorry!

Neo had been here for quite some time now and still didn't have a job. She never did nor did she really want one right now. All her life, she pretty much just stole whatever she needed and even things she didn't really need but simply wanted. She was a pretty good thief too and having the ability to create illusions and disguises for herself certainly helped.

So yes, Neo was pretty much just lounging around the apartment. She had no idea where Jasmine was, so she had the whole place to herself to just sit and watch tv while snacking. Or so it seemed as she heard someone come in the door. She thought it was her roommate at first, but nope, it was a completely different person.

She was about to nod yes, this was her place but then she stopped and pulled out her cellphone and typed. She got up and walked towards the blonde woman, holding it up so she could read. Sort of. I have a roommate but she's out right now. Are you new here?

Lizzie, confused, took a step back when Neo began approaching. Was the girl mad Lizzie barged into her place?

Inner Lizzie: Great, she is going to reenact Housewives of New York on me and start screaming because I just showed up unannounced.

However, Lizzie noticed the phone within a few seconds and read the question. "Am I new? I mean, I guess? I was fleeing New York! My life was nuts and I was going home to my parents, which I know is way pathetic at my age, but I had to, you know? And now this totally crazy thing is happening and, oh my God, I'm dreaming, right? Or I got into an accident and I'm unconscious?"

Neo was usually pretty calm about things and it was rare that she was actually enraged about something. But she wasn't, which was lucky for Lizzie. If she was angry, the blonde probably would've been dead by now.

No, Neo could care less that Lizzie came in the apartment or even that she would be living here. As long as she stayed out of Neo's room, she was cool with her.

She just nodded along as Lizzie rambled on. No, you're not dreaming, though I can pinch you if you want to make sure. :P, she typed, adding the emoji to indicate she was joking. Except she'd probably would hit Lizzie if she wanted. Neo never had any problems being violent. Seriously, though, it's a long story but basically we were kidnapped by this Jubilant Entity thing and now we're stuck in some fake New York place.

"Why aren't you..." Lizzie started to ask why Neo wasn't talking, but then realized she shouldn't since that would be rude. Very rude.

Inner Lizzie: Seriously, would you want someone asking why you never shut up? Same thing, right?

"Do you want me to type?" Lizzie held up her own phone, which would no longer connect to any of her contacts. Figured. "Fake New York?" she blurted once it hit her what Neo said. "Uh, oh, yeah, I'm Lizzie." Did she say that already? She couldn't recall.

Neo raised an eyebrow, wondering what Lizzie was going to ask her before she decided against it. She had an idea, though, and it was a question most people asked her. Neo would've just answered she was mute, but that was it. She wouldn't elaborate more on it.

She shook her head. No, that's fine. I can still hear you. She just won't respond verbally, is all. I know. I never heard of Real New York before. And nice to meet you, I'm Neopolitan but you can call me Neo for short.

So it was really happening. She and Neo were in fake New York. Goodland. Whatever. Fake New York suited it better. She was never escaping, was she? She only hoped her ex-boyfriend wasn't there too. That would be Lizzie's luck.

"Hi, Neo. Sorry for...well, babbling. It's just a lot, you know? So, um, are we roomies then?" She glanced around the apartment. "It is nice in here," she admitted.

Neo just shrugged and waved her off. Honestly, she didn't mind all the babbling. She could understand a bit since Lizzie was right, this was all a bit too much. Neo was able to adapt pretty quickly but she supposed others couldn't.

Guess so. There's another one here. Her name's Jasmine, I think. Neo hadn't exactly introduced herself to her other roommate. It's not so bad. The ostriches downstairs is weird but you get used to seeing them.

Neo just shrugged. I guess. Don't think I've ever heard of it until I met her. She definitely hadn't heard of it because of Princess Jasmine. There wasn't such thing as Disney Princesses where she was from. So she had no idea who Jasmine really was nor did she care much.

She made a face. Yeah, it's pretty gross. And maybe? I'm not quite used to it myself. I still find them annoying. She left the part out where she wanted to strangle and kill the ostriches. She had homicidal thoughts and tendencies, but she kept them to herself.

A place called Remnant, Neo typed, but before she could continue, Lizzie started to feel a bit off. Inwardly, she rolled her eyes but outwardly, she acted concerned and gestured for Lizzie to take a seat on the couch.

You need anything to drink? she offered, nodding towards the fridge. She wasn't sure how water would help, but maybe it might a little. That and it gave her some time to come up with some sort of life story. Telling people about herself wasn't something Neo did very often, if at all.

	Neo nodded and was about to go to the kitchen when Lizzie suddenly jumped up to get a drink herself. She blinked a bit but then shrugged. Hey, if she wanted to grab her own drink, then she can go ahead and do so. And anyways, this was her apartment now too. She approached Lizzie. Feel a bit better now? Well, that was good, Neo supposed. Not that she cared much how Lizzie was feeling, but at least she wasn't having a full blown panic attack or something. Neo wasn't sure what she would've done if that was the case, other than just leaving.

And right, telling the blonde about herself. Neo figured she could tell some of the truth and leave out the rest of it. I'm from a place called Remnant. It's completely different from this world. Most of the places people mentioned, I've never heard of, including NYC. As for this place, it's fine. I don't love it yet but I don't hate it yet either. I'm pretty neutral about it so far.

Lizzie nodded. Neutral was better than hating it, right? She'd never heard of Remnant, but guessed it was a different world from what Neo insinuated. "That must be hard," she said. "Like everyone is talking gibberish most of the time? I totally felt that way when my boyfriend's friends started going on about the restaurant business. Not that I'm comparing that to your world! Of course not! I just mean I know it must suck listening to people jammer on."

	Neo just shrugged. She was pretty much used to it by now. I've been trying to learn the different kinds of places in this world. Good thing she was a quick learner and hey, at least it kept her occupied for the time being. She hated being bored and a bored Neo was never a good thing. Neo nodded. It wouldn't be so bad if we could leave instead of being stuck in the same city all the time. She actually meant it too, she really did thought things might be a bit better if they could leave once in awhile. Maybe it was just her, but she hated being stuck.

Anyways, I'm gonna head out and get something to eat. You wanna come with or are you just gonna stay here?

Neo was kind of hoping Lizzie would go away now. Though if she had decided to tag along, she'd act like she didn't mind. Luckily, the blonde decided against it and Neo was glad. As social as she had been just now and other times when she had to be, she was definitely one who preferred to be alone.

She smiled and gave her new roommate a nod, as if to saw 'no problem', before grabbing her jacket and heading out the door.
