Alex Manes & Michael Guerin
What: Teen angst
Where: Town
When: Sunday
Warnings: Teen angst
Status: Incomplete
It would have been so easy to use his power, to blast Jesse Manes into next week. As much as he wanted to do just that, he held back. He resisted because using his telekensis would clue Alex in to the fact that Michael wasn't normal. He honestly didn't care what Jesse Manes thought of him, but he cared, very much, what Alex Manes thought of him. Alex was the only one who mattered.

Oh, he supposed he had to think of Max and Isobel too. Exposing himself exposed them right along with him. But they weren't the reason he held back. He resisted using his power, even when Alex's dad smashed his hand, because he didn't want to risk freaking Alex out. He didn't want to risk losing Alex that way. Because Alex would see him as a freak. That thought upset him more than any other aspect of it.

So he did nothing. He accepted the blow to his hand, and the screaming that followed. He knew Alex was sorry, that he would probably apologise a thousand times for something that wasn't even his fault. Michael didn't care. he didn't blame Alex. He blamed his bigoted, asshole father. Jesse was the one who swung the hammer, Jesse was the one at fault. Alex had shown Michael nothing but kindness, and an acceptance Michael had never felt anywhere else. Not even with Max and Isobel, if he were honest.

The pain from his hand was mind numbing. He wasn't sure he hadn't blacked out, at least for a few seconds. But what the fuck? He was no longer in the Manes family shed. He was in town, and it didn't look like Roswell. "What the..." He glanced around, his left hand, mangled and bleeding, cradled to his chest. "Alex?"

At seventeen Alex Manes was use to his father's rage, knew the feel of Jesse Manes' fists on his body as they tried to beat the gay from him. What he wasn't used to seeing was that rage turned on another person not of his family.

Everything good and pure that happened in those last few precious hours vanished in meer moments as his father took that hammer to Michael's hand. Not since his mother had anyone stood between him and his father.

Now all he could hear was the sound of crushing bones and the scream of agony in his ears as the world around him blurred. When he dared to open his eyes what he saw was not the shed and his father was nowhere to be seen.

"Michael?" He questioned when he heard his name being called. On shaky legs Alex began he run towards the voice. "Michael!" He yelled as the curly haired boy came into view. He wanted to sweep the other into his arms and hug him, but he stopped in his tracks when he noticed the mangled hand. "Oh my god, Michael…" he gasped bringing his finger to his mouth in shock. "I'm so sorry. Oh no… I'm so sorry."

Michael glanced at his hand, because he knew that was what Alex was fixating on. Shaking his head, he took a step toward him. "It's fine, Alex." It wasn't. But Michael wasn't going to make a big deal out of it. He could always have Max fix it for him, later. Maybe. Probably not. Because if he let Max fix it, he'd have to explain why it was all better.

No, what he really needed was some acetone. He didn't think chugging a bottle of nail polish remover would go over well, though. "I just need to get it set. It'll be okay." He really didn't want Alex freaking out over it. It was bad enough his father had done it, Michael just wanted to forget about it.

"You need a hospital, Guerin" Alex took a step closer also bringing them touching distance now. Alex wanted to reach out to pet Michael's face, hug him, to comfort him in some way, but he didn't want to bring more pain to the boy. His father had done enough of that already.

His father was a monster. He always found some way to defile everything Alex found happiness in. From who he was to the things he does. The young man had no idea why his dad hated him so much.

Alex took a deep shaky breath, trying to force the tears from falling from his eyes. It was his fault Michael was in pain. That pain should have been his. "Guerin..."

Michael shook his head. "No. No hospital, no doctors," he said with a firm, no room for argument tone. "I'll wrap it and it will be fine." He couldn't tell Alex why he was so adamant, but going to a doctor was not a good idea. At all.

He had no idea if his blood or anything else would send up a red flag, but he assumed it would. And if anyone found out he wasn't exactly human...well. He'd heard stories about alien experiments. He didn't want any part of that.

He reached up, with his good hand, and stroked his fingers against Alex's jawline. "I'm okay, Alex. I promise. It's fine."

He could tell it wasn't fine, but knew he wasn't going to get anywhere with Michael by forcing the situation. The hand looked like it needed major surgery or it was going to heal wrong and be useless.

All the worry seemed to drain from him the moment Michael's fingers touched his skin. With a sigh Alex tilted into the gentle caress he had no idea he craved so much until that first kiss at the museum. Before he knew it Alex was clutching Michael's shirt with their foreheads pressed together.

"My dad was not suppose to be home." He sniffled, letting his tears finally fall freely. "Michael, he could have killed you. I don't care what he does to me, but he had no right to touch you like that. I'm so sorry."

Michael sighed. He shifted, pressing his hip against Alex. In Alex's arms was the only place he felt any sort of peace. Even with the throbbing from his hand, he felt calm, he felt like he had found a place he could call home.

"It's not your fault, Alex. He's an evil person. He did this, not you." Michael couldn't bear the thought of Alex blaming himself. It wasn't Alex's fault. Alex had showed him nothing but kindness and compassion.

How such a beautiful man could come from such a wicked father was a mystery to Michael. Maybe that was a greater mystery than where he came from.

Alex could stand here, with Michael in his arms, forever. He's never felt so at peace in anyone's presence like this before. His hands fell to Guerin's hips, then slid around his waist to hold him close. They shared a connection Alex couldn't explain, but it was there and familiar, like it's been there his whole life waiting to meet Guerin, his other half.

"No hospital. Got it. How about a drug store or something? I can help clean and wrap it before it gets infected." He pleaded.

What he really needed was acetone, but he couldn't very well tell Alex he needed to drink fucking nail polish like it was water. Not without explaining why. And he couldn't do that. No matter how much he loved and trusted Alex, he couldn't risk exposure. Maybe if it was just him, but it was Max and Isobel too.

"Yeah, okay." He nodded. He drew a breath to steady himself. It wasn't the pain that was making him lightheaded, but being around Alex. "We can get an Ace bandage to wrap it."
