Cisco Ramon is an anomaly ([info]onlygoodvibes) wrote in [info]somerealityrpg,

Who:Caitlin and Cisco
What: Caitlin checks in on Cisco
When:Today
Where:His place
Warnings:Not likely any but will update if needed. Potential maze talk?

Cisco found himself basically drained of energy. He hadn't really slept since entering the maze Tuesday, Monday was his first real deep sleep. Since then he physically felt a bit better, but he was still exhausted and a little sick ontop of it. He hadn't even realized that'd served as a major factor for his near 20 hour rest. He felt better sleep wise, but sick feel? not so much. He was burrowed in a cocoon of blankets on the couch, practically asleep through the second half of an episode of Star Trek. His skin was hot to the touch, but it didn't really add up to him. His fuzzy brain wasn't cooperating. He figured he just needed sleep and he'd be going back to work the next day. At least, that was his plan. He had so many different things to distract himself with. Things he wanted to do rather than think of the things his mind was spiraling out into while he slept, curled up in a ball.

Suddenly he felt like he was back in that maze, staring down the face of Harrison wells. Or who they'd initially thought was Wells anyway. Those words he'd said to Cisco when he'd killed him in the alternate timeline were words that were burned into his memory. One's he could never shake even if he wanted to. When Wells' hand started to vibrate and head straight for his chest again, that was when Cisco's eyes snapped back open. He wasn't in the maze again, he was in his own apartment. Sitting in a heater. Beads of sweat had gathered on his forehead as he discovered when he tried to push some hair from his face. Ugh. Gross.

He attempted to stand and go to bed, but found once again that jolt of energy earlier had drained like a dead battery. He wasn't moving, not any time soon anyway.

Caitlin was worried. Cisco had been through a lot, and as usual was pushing himself to be okay, thinking he had to be. Which meant Caitlin was visiting in full on Doctor mode. Doctor mode with pizza. She wasn't in a white coat but she did have a stethoscope around her neck and a few things for a check up in her bag.

He was going to complain, she knew it. He'd say he was fine but he'd also listen to her. He'd accept what she told him because behind it all he'd know she was right. And if he was okay, she'd let him go back to work. If not, she was signing him off sick. She'd call Stark herself if she had to.

She could hear the episode of Star Trek playing but not much else. She knocked on the door, still worried.

"Cisco? You okay?"

With his brain being completely full of fuzz he'd entirely forgotten about her visiting. The blankets were kicked off the couch onto the floor as he curled back up on the arm of it like an irritated cat that couldn't get comfortable. He wanted to be okay, to just carry on and forget everything that'd happened. Yet, if he turned and looked toward the table where the jacket he wore hung on a chair he could still see the tear where Fake Wells had gotten him. The blood was still on it, he hadn't cleaned it or touched it. Instead he looked away again back at the t.v. More important space dramas to attend to.

Oh he fully intended to go right back to work tomorrow, many things to do and all. He stood to answer the door, dressed in a over sized hoodie and pair of sweats he unlocked it.

"Hey, yeah. M'fine." He let her in, normally he'd be a bit more enthusiastic she showed up and with food but he was barely able to keep himself standing at that point. His energy was focused on staying upright.

Cisco wasn't fine. She didn't need to be a doctor to know that. She followed him back into the room and let him sit back down, sitting opposite him for a moment before she would start her exam.

"Yeah, you're not fine." she said bluntly. "I'm gonna examine you but honestly, even without doing that, you need some time off. You might have gotten magic healed but they can't fix everything. I'll write you a note and prescribe you something but just let me check you over, okay?"

She knew he'd been through a lot in the maze, more than she or Frost had, she'd seen some things, the dark version of Ronnie for one, but she'd process that in her own time. She was coping, and she had Frost.

"And I'm not even gonna ask for a urine sample." she joked, leaning over to her medical bag.

Sitting was good, he did so when she was finally inside and let the door shut behind them. The other roommates were apparently out with Scott whom he didn't know as well anyway. It was just him in there, and he was fine with that. Better that he didn't get them sick with whatever he had either. He motioned toward the little coffee table he'd piled up a few drinks on but hadn't actually drank from. Waters, juice, whatever he could find at the time.

"If only." Magic was kinda cool, but he felt like he might stick to science next time. Cisco had seen things he'd never really dealt with. Done things he hadn't intended to do. Things he couldn't shake that had apparently manifested in this sickness. Forced him to take time off whether he wanted to or not this time. As if the universe was conspiring against him. Rude.

Cisco gave her a look at that comment "You have weird hobbies." A tease right back as he settled back into a pile of blankets. "...Did you see anything in that maze?" He asked finally after a long moment of silence while she dug through that bag.

He was going to sulk when she wouldn't let him work. They both knew it. But Cisco did listen to her about stuff like this. This was her wheelhouse and she was very good at her job. And she'd freeze up the door if he tried to run.

"I understand the idea of the magical healing, I mean, I can freeze over wounds if needed but it's not the whole package. Do they just make everything better? If they keep doing that, how will the body make antibodies and build up a healthy immune system. If you put a wizard in another environment will they die from a cough? It's just odd to me." she said getting out a medical stick.

"Also, I will have you know that urine picks up a lot of illnesses that blood might not always. Also it's less invasive and quicker than a full blood workup."

She'd heard his question of course but this wasn't about her. This was about Cisco and she was a doctor doing an exam. The rest didn't matter right now.

"Say aah." she said holding the stick ready to check his mouth.

If he had the energy to run just then he might have. As it were he just fidgeted. Lots. "I don't know, but I was able to just..walk out after they healed me. Like nothing happened." Physically anyway. "I'd lost blood, but they didn't need me to do a transfusion. It was just..replaced. Magically." It was weird. There had been no physical side effects from losing so much blood. Frost had been able to seal the wound, but before then he'd basically been drained and yet no transfusion was necessary. He'd been physically able to go right back to work. "It doesn't take away the memory unfortunately." Cisco was kind of tempted to see if magical memory altering was a thing after all that.

He rolled his eyes at her remark about the urine. "I know I know." She'd clearly missed doctoring, she'd even brought those little obnoxious stick things that caused a slight whine from him as he then did eye the door behind them. Was escape too late?

It was coming at him, yes-yes it was too late. He was a pretty terrible patient. He didn't particularly want the room to become an icicle so for the time being he cooperated and did as she asked. His throat was red and irritated. He had your standard flu, all the symptoms were showing up.

So it wasn't the maze. Not physically anyway. But he was run down, tired and yup, his throat was showing all the signs of a flu. She put the stick down and took out a thermometer.

"Yeah, you have the flu. I just need to confirm your temperature and then I'll prescribe you something, you'll need time off. I'm not saying when you can go back until I'm absolutely sure you're better. I'll keep doing check up, but until then, bedrest, fluids, you know the rest." she told him, still amused he was looking at the door. He really wanted to get back to work, she understood that, she'd be the same, not that she was sure she could actually get the flu.

"Now keep this in your mouth and just let me listen to your chest to make sure it's not causing any breathing issues that might turn into something worse." she told him as she put her stethoscope on her ears, motioning to him to lift his shirt.

He was a terrible patient. But she knew she was probably one of the only doctors that he'd listen to in situations like this.

The only reason he didn't run was because of who she was. Had it been Sam or anyone else, there was likely to have been a chase down the hallways. He made a low whining sound like an irritated cat at the idea that he'd be out of work for sure now thanks to this stupid flu. Medically he'd been cured from the maze, but apparently all the build up from it had effected him. The lack of sleeping, mental exhaustion, it'd all just caught up to him. It decided he was done with working for a while after all.

"I'm fine." He tried again, not wanting to buy that he was sick. He just wanted to move on and keep going forward like they always said. He didn't want time to sit around and think about what had happened. He didn't want to cooperate anymore, he felt lousy enough. A pair of dark eyes met hers in disbelief as she continued on anyway.

He thought about just opening up a portal and getting anywhere but there for a brief second. "It's nothing." It wasn't worth the attention. There were others in worse conditions. Ones he couldn't help.

Caitlin sighed, taking the thermometer back and glancing at it. Yup. Fever. Not dangerous levels but definitely the flu.

"You are not fine. You have the flu and you are going to take time off and you are going to rest. Do you understand me?"

She could be harsh when she needed to be, when she was worried her patient, best friend or not, would ignore her advice. "Cisco, I'm a Doctor. I know what I'm talking about and believe me, if you go into work, you'll get sicker. The flu can be dangerous if you ignore it, and I know you're aware that it's highly contagious. So until I tell you otherwise, bed rest and fluids."

She knew he'd do everything he could to get out of this but this wasn't something he was getting out of.

"Do I need to call Tony myself?"

He didn't need a hospital at least, he wasn't delirious, just stubborn. Always had been. Especially when it came to things like missing work. In a place like this he needed to stay busy, it was that or feel worthless. He was afraid of that feeling again if he was completely honest. There were several times lately that feeling had snuck up on him when he didn't expect it, like now. Sitting on that couch, not being behind the screen he definitely felt guilty. He didn't feel cut out for the field. What he could do was be at the screen, so not being there made him feel some kind of way. One that wasn't fun.

Cisco gave her a look, but then it melted into something a little less annoyed and more subdued. "I couldn't do anything then. I don't want to not do anything now." His eyes shifted away and closed partially. Whether he wanted to admit it or not, he was exhausted. Damn flu was draining. He'd wanted to help, but ended up just needing help himself.

"..No." He finally responded, he knew she was just helping. He'd try not to make her job harder, at least for now. He wasn't physically injured, but his pride had taken a hit.
