Who: Stiles and Scott and Lydia
Where: Corn Maze
When: Sometime after Group 2 gets sent in.
What: Stiles just wanted to help, instead, he deals with inner demons and runs into Scott at some point.
Status: Incomplete

Going into the maze with Cora hadn’t been such a bad idea, but after losing her in the darkness, Stiles was seriously starting to regret coming into this thing. He just wanted to help anyone that might be in trouble, but he couldn’t exactly do that when one, he could barely see, and two, nobody was around. He figured they must be deeper into the maze than he was.

At least he had his phone, which he used as a flashlight and to text about being in the maze. Scott wasn’t happy, which he understood, but it was too late. He was in the maze. Now he just needed to find his way out of the damn thing.

He looked up into the air after getting the messages from the ice woman (he had no idea what her name was so ice woman for now). He waited to see the snow and once he saw it he started trying to make his way towards it. Easier said than done. This place sucked.

There had been a few times where he thought he might be getting closer to the ice woman, but then he’d have to make a turn that made him move further away from the snow raining down from the woman’s position. “I should have never come in here…” he muttered as he kept on, only stopping when he thought he heard someone near by. “Hello?” he called out, but got no answer, so he moved on again, but stopped when he heard footsteps again.

“Stiiiiillleeesssss…”

Stiles froze and closed his eyes for a moment. Nope, he did not hear that. No, he did not. But just in case, he quickly texted Scott back.

“Let me back in…”

When he opened his eyes, he was no longer in the corn maze, but in the basement of Eichen house. “This isn’t real….this isn’t real…” he repeated over and over again. There was no way in hell he was back in Beacons Hills and definitely not back in Eichen house.

“Are you sure about that? Are you sure you ever left?”

Stiles was standing his ground. This wasn’t real. He was just getting fucked with. Because there was no way the Nogitsune was standing there. His friends defeated the fox spirit. And he wasn’t still in Eichen house. He wasn’t crazy. “Get out of my head. You’re not here. And I will never ever let you back in even if you were here.”

“You’ll let me back in. You miss everything that I had given you. You’re scared to admit it,” the fox spirit said as he moved closer to Stiles. A creepy grin on its face. “Let me in, Stiles…”

Stiles shook his head and yelled, “NO!” He just needed to keep reminding himself that this wasn’t real. He was in some freaky corn maze.

“You’re going to wish that you had said yes…”

Before Stiles could say anything he felt a sharp pain move across his shoulder. He yelled out in pain and quickly spun around, the basement and the Nogitsune was gone and replaced with a creature he couldn’t make out. It was so dark again. But he didn’t miss the scary glowing eyes and the growling sounds it was making.

He wasn’t sticking around for this. He quickly took off running. No clue where he was going. At the moment he didn’t care. He just needed to get away from the thing that hurt him. He kept running until he literally smacked into something…no, somebody. He impact was so hard he ended up falling to the ground with a loud thud.

Shit, shit, fucking shit! Why had Stiles gone out into the damn maze? Why hadn't he spoken to him first? Of course, Scott thought as he ran full-tilt towards the corn, it was because he'd have pinned Stiles down and forced both him and Cora to give up the idea! Nothing good could come from going into that place and now they were alone facing god only knew what!

Scott's phone pinged and he read the text. The Nogitsune? Oh hell no! That wasn't possible... was it? He texted a quick response as he charged towards the maze entrance, taking very little care who got in his way as he sniffed for the familiar scent of his best friend.

Once in the maze it was as though everyone he'd passed by had vanished and though he could hear voices and whispers in the corn but couldn't put his finger on their exact position. He moved quickly through the maze, trying to keep at least some sense of his own direction, but soon he was just as lost as Stiles had claimed to be despite his superior senses.

"Never go into the scary maze!" Scott muttered under his breath as he raised his nose to the air once again, "what could possibly go wrong?" He gave an 'oof' as the rest of his breath was knocked clean out of him by something charging through the maze into him and quickly rolled and came up ready to fight.

"Stiles?"

Stiles groaned not only from the pain of hitting someone one but from his shoulders as well. He almost didn't want to see who or what he had run into, but when he heard Scott's voice, he quickly grabbed his phone and pointed the light towards Scott. "Scott? You're really here?" Like, yeah, he knew Scott was coming, but the fact that this place was fucking with his head only made him second guess if this was really his best friend.

He got up quickly, just in case he needed to run again.

When Scott fell away he was covered in blood. He couldn't just see it but smell it and he knew exactly who it belonged to. "Stiles, are you okay?" he asked as the light of the phone almost blinded him and he put up his hand to shield his eyes. "You're hurt. I can smell it," he knew it wasn't the most attractive phrase he'd ever used but he needed to know if it was serious.

"What the hell happened?" Scott asked, coming to Stiles' side in a second and giving him a quick glance over.

"No, I'm not okay!" He lowered the light a little so that it wasn't in Scott's face anymore. "I'm sure you can smell a lot of things right now." He was hurt and he was kind of scared and he really hoped that the Nogitsune didn't pop up again.

"I don't know...I was trying to find my way towards the tiny snowstorm and all of a sudden I was back in Eichen house and the Nogitsune was there. He wanted me to let him back in again...he tried to say I never left Eichen...and then something attacked me." He didn't even have time to see how much damage he had sustained. He had just run as fast as he could until he ran smack right into Scott. He had a feeling it was bad. It hurt like hell and he could feel the blood just oozing out of the wound.

He finally moved the light away from Scott and shined it onto his shoulder. "...that's going to leave a mark."

Stiles really wasn't okay and contrary to all logic, Scott felt responsible for it. He should have gotten here sooner or... something! One thing was for sure he could smell all the things Stiles was intimating and he really wished he couldn't.

As Scott listened, he checked out the wound and pulled off his t-shirt to staunch the flow of blood. "I don't know what's going on in this maze, but something is fucking with you," he said as he bound the shoulder as tightly as he dared without hurting his best friend. "Nogitsune isn't here, but that doesn't mean there's not something out to hurt us here," he said stepping back. "Lydia's going to kick your ass for spoiling your youthful good looks, huh?" he said with a wry smile.

"We need to get out of here," and get Stiles to a damn hospital! He didn't like the way he was bleeding and leaving a mark was fine, so long as there was a Stiles to leave a mark on.

"Ya think?" He said as he winced at what Scott was doing. "I know it, but I think I would have started to believe it if that thing hadn't gashed my shoulder." He knew it wasn't real, but that didn't mean it didn't bring up some stuff that he had pushed down. "She's not going to hurt me. She might yell at me for coming in here, though." Speaking of Lydia. "Where is Lydia? Have you heard from her today?" He hadn't and now he hoped she wasn't in this hell hole too.

"Tell me something that I didn't know." He looked back from where he came from and then in a different direction. "Well, I'm not going back that way. Let's go this way," he said as he started to walk.

Lydia had no idea how long she'd been in complete darkness in this stupid maze. Long enough to run into a guy with a knife in a mask, a guy with a chainsaw in a mask, and a completely different guy with a knife (in a mask). She'd used her voice to stun them each time, then taken off running until she was reasonably sure she wasn't being followed anymore, only to start the cycle again. It didn't bode well for her chances of escaping the maze, but she'd rather survive it at this point. A scream had already been ripped from her throat unwillingly. People were dying in this maze and she wasn't going to be one of them.

Up until now, she'd only been tormented by vaguely-familiar villians from movies she'd never bothered to see (her life was enough of a horror movie, thank you). She'd tripped over a backpack left in the pathway and grabbed herself a flashlight during her last encounter, the light going far to ease some of her nerves. She could see what was coming now. Unfortunately, what was coming as she rounded the next corner was Dr. Valack. Exactly as she'd last seen him, half of his head missing but somehow still moving around. 'You got rid of my gift, Lydia. I thought you wanted to save your friends.'

This wasn't real. It couldn't be real. Backing away as fast as she could, she kept her flashlight pointed at the doctor as she scrambled to get away, nearly tripping over her own legs. The sound of his drill started up before he slowly turned the corner after her, walking as if he had all of the time in the world. Assuming the ready position, she screamed as hard as she could after hours of doing this, the sound traveling through the apparition without seeming to affect him at all. 'I need your help, Lydia, and I'm going to get it. I have this maze memorized. You'll be mine soon.' He raised his drill and she darted off down the first pathway she found, the flashlight's beam bouncing around almost uselessly. The ground under her feet was hard and cold, and she cursed the entity once again for not giving her the chance to be in real clothes with real shoes on.

Turning down a corridor, she came up short when Valack was there, too. "You're. Not. Real." The last word turned into another scream, the specter undulating out of existence with the wave of sound. Exhaustion and relief took the wind right out of her and she sank to the floor for a moment to rest and recover once again. Each scream was getting less powerful and more painful, and that had been the worst yet. She was so tired.

He didn't have his mother's training but she'd trained him well enough to stem the worst of the blood-flow. Scott was more worried now that Stiles might succumb to shock once the adrenaline of the whole situation ebbed away. "You're here, with me and no fox demon's hurting you on my watch," at this point he wasn't sure if he was trying to convince himself or his friend, but the talking was helping Scott's nerves. "We can join forces yelling at you for coming in here," he told him with a small smile, which vanished when Stiles asked about his partner.

"I haven't heard from her," he had a bad feeling about this and pulled out his phone to speedial her number... which went straight to voice mail. Lydia with her phone switched off, during this shit? "This is so not good," he said shaking his head and meeting Stiles' eyes.

Without another word Scott followed Stiles. Whatever it was that had hurt him was very real, even if it wasn't the Nogitsune, and he didn't want to run in to it. They'd only walked a few steps when the air was shattered by a sound that shook him to his core. "Lydia," he said as he started to jog towards the scream. "She's in trouble," he said, stating the blindingly obvious in the face of anything better to say.

"I know...it just felt so real..." He wanted to believe what Scott was saying, but he was pretty sure that if this maze wanted to split them apart again to fuck with them it would. "Are you going to yell at Cora too?"

That's what he was afraid of. He watched as Scott called Lydia's phone and got no answer. That wasn't good. Lydia hardly ever let her phone go straight to voice mail. "Damn it..." The small hope that Lydia wasn't trapped in this hell hole had been squashed.

He kept walking, only stopping when he too heard the familiar scream. He had no words for Scott. He just took off running towards the sound of the scream. "Lydia!"

Lydia had yet to run into a single person from outside of the maze. She was starting to believe they were each in their own maze, without the ability to find each other. When the sound of footsteps reached her, she pushed up from the ground and pointed her flashlight warily in that direction, waiting for the fresh hell that was coming.

When Stiles crossed into the light, she felt a chill down her spine. The maze knew her, clearly. It had to know that she wouldn't believe Stiles meant her any kind of harm. Which only meant it was going to hurt this projection of him to hurt her. Judging by the blood-stained cloth around his shoulder, it was meant to have already started. "You're not real," she started chanting softly to herself, closing her eyes. She'd take the generic bad guys again, please!

Yeah, too real, judging by the wound Stiles had received, he thought with a worried nod towards his friend. "Yeah, I'm gonna yell at her for not keeping you on a leash," he answered with a roll of his eyes, "which is where you belong."

Ah dammit! If this maze was as bad as Stiles believed, he wasn't letting him get ahead of him for a second. The two ran side by side until they bolted around a corner and Scott caught Lydia's scent on the wind. A moment later he was being blinded by another damn flashlight and he winced. Night-vision for pack-mates should be a thing, Scott thought as he heard Lydia's voice and realised if they didn't act quickly they were in danged of being seen off like whatever she'd screamed at.

"Hey, Lyd? It's us," he said softly, resting a gentle hand of Stiles' shoulder. "I think she thinks she's hallucinating us," he said in a soft whisper. "We heard you and came," because that's what they did for one another, right?

"Yeah, no thanks, I don't think I'm into the whole leash thing."

Stiles was relieved to find Lydia, but hearing her say that they weren't real sucked. But then again he wasn't at all surprised. If this place could make him see the Nogitusne, who knew what it was making Lydia see.

"Thanks, Captain Obvious," Stiles said with a roll of his eyes as he stepped towards Lydia. "It really is us. I don't know what this place has made you see, but we are real." He held out his hand towards Lydia, hoping she'd take it and notice that he was real. Not some hallucination that ths place conjured up.

When nothing materialized out of the maze to hurt them, she reached out her hand to see if it would pass through Stiles's. When it didn't, she grabbed hold tightly and took a step closer, stopping herself short from pulling him in for a tight hug. It was a relief that they were really here (though she held her other hand out for Scott to confirm as well), but now that meant they were all trapped here in this maze, and that Stiles was actually hurt. She didn't want to make it worse. "What happened to your arm?"

If he hadn't been hurt enough already, Scott would have given his friend's arm a thump for the whole Captain Obvious thing. But he was, so it would have to wait until he was healed. Instead he let Stiles do his Lydia-whispering and if it totally failed he'd try the alpha-thing. He didn't want to, but they also could risk her banshee scream if she got scared of them.

Scott gave a small sigh of relief as she caught Stiles' hand and moved closer and he caught her other hand and gave it a tight squeeze to prove he was just as real as his friend.

"He's okay, Lyd," he said softly, not wanting to worry her more. "Mostly okay," he amended, because he was, fundamentally, honest with his people. "Something out here attacked him, pretending to be the Nogitsune," Scott told her. "It's going to need stitches, but once we get out of here it'll heal. How about you? Are you hurt?"

The moment Lydia had grabbed his hand he pulled her close. he would have hugged her, but his free arm hurt like hell, so he just kept a hold on her hand.

"Well, that's how it sort of happened," he jumped in. "I think the Nogitusne bugging me was just a distraction so the thing with red eyes and claws could use me as a scratching post."

He too wondered the same thing. he gave Lydia a once over. She didn't look hurt, but that didn't mean that she wasn't. "We need to get out of here," he said after they were done checking on one another.

"I'm fine," the answer came immediately. Even if she hadn't been fine, she would have said she was. Her throat didn't count, and besides, her voice was obviously strained. Didn't take super-hearing to figure that out, but she also wasn't going to stop using it if she had to.

Claws and red eyes. Sounded very hygienic. She squeezed Stiles's hand and frowned, wishing for some water to flush out the wound before it could become infected. His best bet was just to get out of here, like he'd said. "I haven't been paying much attention, to the maze but I do know Trémaux's algorithm is the only guaranteed method of getting out of a maze. But we'd need some way to mark the paths we've taken." That didn't seem likely. "If only we'd been blipped into the maze with useful things." Like a weapon. Or string. "Scott, I don't suppose you can sniff out an exit?"

Scott did a double take as Stiles mentioned the red eyes and claws and a chill ran through his veins. "You're telling me you were scratched by a werewolf?" he hadn't mentioned anything other than the Nogitusne prior to that explanation and now he was slightly freaked out that if the things in the maze were real he might have more than a wound to deal with.

"We really need to get out of here," Scott said with a nod of his own. "I don't know what the hell Trémaux's algorithm is but I'm totally down for learning." Quickly. "If the exit's been used a lot, maybe," he said looking at Lydia and Stiles, "but we can't leave Cora here on her own," he said with a frown. "We have to at least try and locate her, don't we?" he hoped the others felt the same way. Abandoning her to whatever the maze threw at them didn't feel great, even if she was strong enough to survive most things.

He closed his eyes for a minute, "I'll see if I can get you guys to safety and go back for her," Scott finally decided. "You're both too squishy to be left to your own devices," as was proven by Stiles' shoulder.
