Tony Stark - Arrival One Shot
[info]notyourplayboy
2019-06-15 12:21 pm UTC (link)
Tony had this nightmare before — his friends, family, and fellow Avengers all dead. It was always his fault too. Something he missed. Something he forgot. Something he didn’t do. They weren’t dreams, no, they were premonitions. He told them. He told them! No one listened.

“PTSD,” they said.

“Rest,” they said.

He tried to rest, but look what it got him. He deluded himself into thinking he could have a life with Pepper. He tried to be rid of Iron Man. Was it possible? No, no, it wasn’t possible. Bruce felt entrapped by the Hulk, but Tony’s man-made suit trapped him too; it weighed on his consciousness. What had Pete said once? About doing the things he could, but then not doing those things? Oh, right, he said if he didn’t use them, it felt like all the bad things were his fault. Tony understood. Oh, did Tony understand.

It didn’t matter anymore. He sat helplessly in outer space watching as hero after hero turned to dust until finally the kid — the kid he recruited into their messed up world — grabbed at him.

“I’m sorry,” Peter said as he faded away.

What did the kid have to apologize for? Nothing. It was all Tony’s fault. How would he tell May? She’d hate him. She’d have every right to hate him.

“It is the only way,” Strange told him before he perished.

“Screw that,” Tony thought. His life was spared yet again when those more deserving lost theirs. For what?

He remained kneeling on the ground where Peter vanished, willing some plan, any plan, to come to him. What had happened to Peter? To Quill? To Strange? To the rest? Surely, Tony Stark, bona fide genius, would hatch a plan to fix what happened.

He closed his eyes. A strategy would come. It had to —

He felt sick. Was it happening to him finally? He’d welcome death or whatever that damn dusting was if it meant respite from his thoughts. He wanted to be free of the memories — memories of Peter, Steve, Nat, Pepper, Happy, Rhodey. He owed them everything, but let them down. He let all the Avengers down.

He opened his eyes only when he felt rain pouring over him. When did it start raining?

“The hell?” He shielded his eyes from the water dripping down his face. How did he get back to New York? Did he never leave? Was it a panic attack? A hallucination? Where was Pepper? Did he imagine the orb and Strange and Banner? He grabbed for the old phone that held Cap’s number, but it was gone.

“It can’t be a dream then,” he muttered, recalling he dropped the phone while battling the aliens.

It was raining. It was raining a lot, actually, and Sam's heart jumped for a moment as he tried to get his bearings. It looked like New York - not the New York he was just in, though, the one with a second New York visible already in the sky as the sort of doom he was never quite sure they were going to survive drew ever closer. For a moment he wondered if he'd gone back in time somehow, if this really was the beginning of the Ultimatum wave, but... no. That just doesn't seem right somehow.

He doesn't have his full bug-out bag with him - that would have been far too convenient - but he's at least got a few pieces of useful kit. Most importantly for now, his satellite phone. He tugs it out even as he uses his other hand to try to pull his jacket over his head for a little protection, trying to find somewhere where the rain was a little less driving where he could take stock of things. First things first, he needed to figure out what the hell was going on.

He switched the phone to broadcast on the most common radio frequencies used by the military and SHIELD. Surely there was someone around who might be able to tell him something. "Unknown station, this is Agent Falcon. Do you read?" He repeated the message once more before stopping to listen for a response, peering through the storm as he waited. He should have known it wasn't going to be a normal day.

Lena's two!

Rose is going to arrive very early, really freaking injured (cracked ribs, badly sprained ankle, probably some internal injuries, lots of bruises and evidence of vampire bites on her neck). She'll pass out almost immediately on arrival and her super eloquent open post takes place sometime between when she wakes up and when she makes her way to her new apartment. I will accept a volunteer to find her and uh get her to a doctor type, but she does at least heal pretty fast.

Random.org says Roger arrives on the 21st. He is fresh from a quidditch match (Julia can his broom be with him if he was holding it???) and is going to wake up in the middle of Central Park. His first priority is going to be finding Alicia once he realizes she's here and other than that TBD after I talk to Maxi! I'm up for him bumping into anyone or arriving in the same vicinity of whoever!

Peter is here to help Rose! He landed on a "generic rooftop bar/restaurant" somewhere in the city, so he's well suited to be just about anywhere. Also, he's actually kinda sorta roaming (I left it a little ambiguous, but he's roaming in his own way), but I'm happy to say he ran by where she was passed out and turned around/stopped to check on her. I don't think he'd reveal his face right then (maybe down the line?), but he would try to get her somewhere safe (and dry) and wouldn't leave her until he knew she was okay (or if they come across anyone else who needs help along the way).

Laura is not impressed by this rain, especially since she's wearing her costume and it does not have good coverage. :x She's going to magic up a mostly-translucent red shield to keep herself from getting even more wet but she doesn't have a clue where she is, having spent barely any time in New York, and she's mostly walking around trying to figure out wtf is going on and where this building they supposedly live in now is.

Jughead Jones - Arrival
[info]weirdowriter
2019-06-15 02:08 pm UTC (link)
Jughead's just attempted to sacrifice himself to Penny Peabody for the good of the group, to save his friends and the Serpents. His dad found him and carried him out damn near lifeless in his arms. It's when his dad puts him in the back of the car to take him to hospital that he arrives in New York.

He's been beaten pretty badly. The Serpent tattoo that once graced his upper right arm has been cut off, leaving a nasty, jagged, bleeding wound. He's got cuts and scrapes all over, broken ribs, a broken wrist, and various superficial wounds. He gave it a good fight, but if his dad hadn't arrived when he had, Jughead probably wouldn't have survived.

He's open to being found, and taken to hospital if someone's interested in rescuing a half dead teen from bleeding out in the street. Otherwise, he'll drag himself to a clinic or sommat.

Diego Hargreeves - Arrival
[info]trythingsmyway
2019-06-15 02:12 pm UTC (link)
Diego doesn't mind the weather. He likes how the rain plasters his hair to his face. It fits his mood. He's moody and irritated, and the storm seems to reflect that perfectly.

He is actually, at the moment, uninjured. He'd just been with his siblings, all of them, trying to rescue Vanya from herself. It wasn't going so well. Arriving in New York is a bit of a shock, completely unexpected because they aren't in possession of on of the briefcases.

But here he is. He's arrived in the middle of the street, and after dodging a car, he's standing on the sidewalk with his face turned up to the rain just as lightning flashes and thunder rumbles intense enough to shake the ground.

Hannah is arriving today and I think I'm going to have Wanda arrive today as well because I'm lazy. Both of them will be very confused, Hannah might be a bit more panicky but will think that finding her new "home" would be a good place to start. Wanda might likely look around the city a bit more to try and get an idea of what's going on, so she probably wont do anything on the network until later today.

Edmund is arriving today. He shows up in Grand Central Terminal because having him go from one train station to another amuses me. He'll be cold and a bit grumpy at the rain, but not too much because he hasn't been on this kind of adventure in a while. He was hoping for Narnia, but he'll be exploring as he finds his way to his new apartment.

Natasha Romanoff Arrival One Shot
[info]comespywithme
2019-06-15 03:13 pm UTC (link)
She could hear the rain beating down on the roof and she let out a sigh. The weather meant that this would be a very long day because it was hard to track someone in the rain but they'd do it because it was what they did. As she slowly woke up, she realized she didn't feel well and then she opened her eyes.

She wasn't in bed. She was staring up at the underbelly of something that wasn't a roof and she was on the ground. The ground? What the hell? She rolled out from under whatever it was ans got to her feet. When she did, she knew exactly where she was. She was in Central Park for some fucked up reason, she had woken up under the Alice in Wonderland statue. Which was weird since she'd gone to bed somwherein the Middle East. Before she could think of where to go to get out of the rain, she felt a wave of nausea and hurried over to the wall and puked her guts up in the grass. Certainly not the first person to do that, she wagered. Probably not the first person to go to sleep under the statue either.

Sitting down on the wall, she took a few deep breaths and then a letter floated down out of nowhere. "This is some freaky shit," she said as it landed in her lap and she read it. Well, none of this felt like a dream so she might as well go with it, she thought and she got up and tried to find her way out of the park and to wherever this place was.

Peter Parker -- Arrival One Shot (1/2)
[info]fromyoutube
2019-06-15 03:41 pm UTC (link)
Why was he falling again? Why was this a thing? Was it some rule that to be a superhero, even a neighborhood one, you had to literally fall from great heights all the time? Was there some kind of fall quota he had to meet but didn’t know about it? Was it a yearly thing or a lifetime thing? And were there awards for those falls? Were points added for style and distance, taken away when one got tangled up in a parachute? Points for sticking the landing?

These questions and more raced through Peter Parker’s mind as he came back to consciousness in an utterly terrifying free fall.

There was no donut ship, and, was that rain? And why did his suit smell like a new car? And why was the ground coming so fast? (That last one was easy. He had to be going at least 120 mph, which was not a comforting thought.) Did this new suit not have a parachute? Surely the new suit had a parachute! His other one did. And Mr. Stark wasn’t likely to not include one, right? Why put one in one suit but not in another, clearly more advanced one that could literally materialize around him in the second (was it a second? It must have been no more than a second) he had blacked out. There was one. There had to be. He just had to figure out how to deploy it.

Just as panic was about to set in, Peter realized his descent had begun to slow. Oh, he thought, glancing around and noticing the fully extended parachute above him. And the lightning in the sky. The wind he supposed he could find a way to handle, but the lightning? The lightning made him nervous, especially as a guy in a metal suit drifting back down to earth. This was just all sorts of Not Good, and he couldn’t wrap his mind around any of it.

“Karen, where’d this storm come from,” he asked, fully expecting an answer. Surely his suit’s AI could tell him if this was some freak storm brought on by the aliens trying to kidnap that wizard--

The wizard! Was he okay? And where was the donut ship? He twisted around, trying to see if he could spot it in the sky above, but dark clouds blocked any sight he might have had on it. That didn’t stop him from worrying as his brain reminded him that he was still technically falling, even if he now had a parachute to help with that fall.

The problem with Manhattan, he decided, was that, from an aerial perspective, there weren’t a lot of good, open places for someone to land. There were just so many buildings, so many potential obstacles to get stuck on. It didn’t help that Peter had never actually skydived before, so he had no real frame of reference for how to stop himself from breaking a leg or an arm or smashing his face into the ground upon landing.

He tried again to talk to Karen, tried to ask her for help on how and where to land. Again, however, there was no response. Either she wasn’t in the suit, or this storm was interfering with his suit’s connection to her. What else could it be?

One good thing, he decided as he quickly looked around at the approaching buildings, was that he wasn’t a normal skydiver. (Hell, he wasn’t even really a skydiver, but that wasn’t the point.) There may not have been any easy to get to open fields from where his current path seemed to be leading him, but Peter didn’t really need a wide, open space. He just needed to get a little closer…

Nico's Arrival
[info]theghostking
2019-06-15 04:23 pm UTC (link)
Per the Lena method of Random.org, Nico's going to show up on the 16th. He'll show up in Grand Central Terminal, asleep/just barely waking up, possibly under a table to lend himself the look of some homeless kid. It won't help that he's been wearing the same clothes for days at this point, and he's pretty weak and groggy, and his hair's all tangled up. In short, he looks like a mess. If anyone wants to come upon him, that'd be great. Otherwise, he'll eventually wake up and try to figure out what's going on and eventually wander to the place indicated on the letter and map.

Aziraphale - Arrival One Shot
[info]gaveitaway
2019-06-15 06:18 pm UTC (link)
Aziraphale wasn't quite sure what exactly just happened. One minute he was quite happily studying his latest book acquisition in his office, and the next he was in what appeared te be an American style diner, sans book. Well, he thought it was an American style diner, he'd never actually been in one before. He was far too used to fine dining.

Frowning, the angel looked around him for any hint of why or how he was there, when it hit him, quite literally, in the face. Pealing the letter from him face, he smiled as he read it. Well, that sounded rather lovely. Although, he would quite prefer it if his shop had come with him. And Crowley. Oh he did hope Crowley was here too. He's not sure what he'd do without the demon, especially after the last couple of days.

Well, he supposed there was no use dwelling on it now, he'd find out sooner or later if his best friend had joined him. Instead he might as well go in search of his new home. And meet this roommate the letter mentioned. He'd never had a roommate before, this was turning out to be quite the adventure, and a lot less perilous than the last one.

Barbara Gordon - Arrival One Shot

Truth be told, Manhattan is not all that different than Gotham City is, especially not amid the wind and the rain and the storms. But it was still jarring to go from huddled against the wind on her way out of the library to huddled against the wind on a city street that was entirely unfamiliar to her. She stopped suddenly, turned around until she could spot a street sign, and that was when she got the letter, read it, and laughed. Her laughter stilled a bit as she tensed, the hair on her arms prickling in that was she got when she was being paranoid or suspicious or something. Nothing else seemed out of the ordinary though, so she turned on her heel and, a city girl at heart, which gave her an excellent sense of urban direction, headed off for the apartment building.

Buffy Summers - Arrival One Shot
[info]buffy_summers
2019-06-15 10:16 pm UTC (link)
Buffy Summers opened her eyes. This was in fact a normal thing to do, but what wasn’t normal was the fact it didn't usual rain inside the training room she had been in. She absently pushed some already soaked strands of hair from her face as she tried to gather her bearings. Huh, she didn’t recognize her surroundings that was for sure. The last thing she recalled, she had been training with Faith, as they took turns with the Slayer scythe. She had managed to snatch the scythe from Faith’s hands as the other Slayer hit her with a firm kick that had sent her careening to the floor. It had been a good blow, knocking the wind out of her to boot, but last she checked Faith’s kicks didn’t teleport people to what looked like freaking Times Square. Buffy jumped to her feet, clutching her scythe and was about to demand some answers when she noticed something floating toward her. Her eyes narrowed, but she grabbed the object from mid air and discovered it was a letter to her. Her brow furrowed as she looked it over and ominous cracks of thunder and lightning filled the sky.

“This has got to be some kind of joke.” Buffy muttered as she glanced around to see if anyone looked fishy to her. When nothing seemed to ping on her radar, the blonde continued to read and try to take it all in. Well, it had to have something to do with magic; the letter was mysteriously dry, even as Buffy started to feel the chill of being out in the rain for too long. So if this wasn’t a joke, which was possible since some magical pranksters had been upping their game back at home base, then she was stranded in another dimension and that meant she had to find a way home as soon as possible. Sure, it also probably meant she was going to have to slay some great and terrible supernatural being in the process, but that was normal, especially this time of year. Technically that rang true any time of year when she really thought about it...

But first she needed to get her head in the game and do some recon. It was time to wear that bubbly Buffy mask and start asking questions. If the smiles didn’t get what she wanted she could always attempt brute force, but she would try it the polite way for the time being.

"HELP!" Freddy screamed as Sivana demanded to know where Billy disappeared. Freddy gasped for air as Sivana banged him against the wall again. "I don't know!" He exclaimed. "Ow!" Jason Todd - Arrival One Shot
[info]theboyblunder
2019-06-16 04:21 pm UTC (link)
It wasn’t the first time that Jason had closed his eyes, only to open them and find himself somewhere else. The strange sense of deja vu kept the experience from unnerving him too much, even given the sudden switch from standing inside the Penguin’s office to finding himself outside in a storm. It could have been much worse than reaching up to catch the mysteriously dry letter drifting downwards towards him. (And it usually was; nothing would ever top the horrific Christmas themed hallucination).

The good news about all of this was that he’d still been dressed as Red Hood when he magically arrived in ‘Goodland,’ and not just Jason Todd preparing to ignore Father’s Day. That would have made things a little more difficult. It also meant that he had no second thoughts about following the ‘clue’ back to the Ostrich’s villa to discover whatever it was the ‘Jubilant Entity’ was hoping for him to find. With any luck, it would be the missing Outlaws.

Billy Russo - Arrival One Shot
[info]mrbillyrusso
2019-06-19 03:00 am UTC (link)
Things had still been hazy for Billy when he left the house. It should have felt like the natural conclusion to that chapter of his life to finally be covered in Arthur’s blood. If nothing else, it should have given him some sort of satisfaction. This day was twenty-five years in the making; he’d finally gotten the justice that the world had never offered him. And, in the heat of the moment, it had made him feel something.

But now all he really felt from it was the rush of adrenaline starting to die down. His thoughts were starting to clear up past the blinding sense of rage and shame. The situation was worse now than it had been when he’d woken up in the park that morning. Without Frank and Curtis, who could he even turn to that could help him put things into order?

The only other person in the world who cared if he was alive was his therapist.

It would have been funny if it weren’t so pathetic, considering how much he’d hated Dr. Dumont’s every attempt to get to know him. She was too nice and he just didn’t trust that. No one was that nice without a reason. But it was like Arthur had said to him - and how twisted that he would have to live with those words in his mind now, too - he couldn’t afford to be so fussy, anymore.

He had intended to follow her home from the hospital. As he’d gone back in that direction, however, he seemed to lose every bit of navigational skills he’d ever possessed.
