Kenny had practically challenged Adrian, and he wasn't about to let that go. He was going to show Kenny just how awesome his magic was, whether he believed it or not. So, giving Kenny plenty of time to fall asleep, even if he was staying up ridiculously late, Adrian sat on his bed at about 3:00am and fell into the trance necessary to pull someone into a Spirit dream.

First he set the stage - a garden at the Moroi court where he and his aunt had often talked. It was, as it always was in Adrian's dreams, bright daylight. There were flowers of all sorts, bees and butterflies dancing around them. Adrian's artistic and Spirit talent were obvious in the detail and realism of the setting.

Visualizing everything he could about the guy, he pulled him in, and a few moments later, he saw him start to materialize. When he did, Adrian grinned, taking a puff of the cigarette he held in his hands. A dream cigarette, true, but it tasted just as good while he was in here.

"Told you I could do it," he said.

Kenny did believe Adrian could do the magic. He saw too much weird shit not to believe it. He just wanted to know if it was interesting or not. Plus, he'd never seen anyone use dream walking before, so he was curious enough to see what it was all about. He never had any trouble falling asleep, so he was out long before three.

He didn't dream much or if he did, he never remembered them, so his dream wasn't really much before Adrian pulled him away from it. Now he was in some garden with a bunch of flowers and shit, something he himself wouldn't have thought of.

He heard a voice and turned, seeing who he guessed was the guy he'd spoken to. "Never said you couldn't, I just wanted to know if it was cool or not." Which, so far, it was kind of interesting. Just the dream walking part, anyway. He still hadn't seen any of the guy's other abilities, which apparently included aura reading.

"Can you do other shit? Like changing the dream around?"

"Sure," Adrian said. "I can change anything about it. For instance," and with a wave of his hand, Kenny's normal clothes turned into hipster wear, complete with skinny jeans a ridiculous looking hat.

"I just like this place. It's the garden at the Moroi court, where my aunt and I used to talk."

He missed Tatiana desperately. So many people thought she was a cold-hearted bitch, but they didn't know her. Not like he had. She'd been the only person he'd ever met who really understood him, deep inside.

Kenny had more hoped he'd make it rain blood or something, but his clothes changing was an okay trick. A bit more since it was a style he wouldn't wear himself and he doubted he himself would've come up with it even subconsciously.

"Okay, guess the dream thing is kinda cool," he shrugged, taking the funny looking hat off and examining it. Just the dream part. He still wanted to see the aura thing and whatever other magic Adrian had. But he still thought the vampire part was lame. Vampires were not cool and nothing can convince him otherwise.

"Did you aunt die?" he guessed. It sounded like it, from how he said 'used to talk' but he could be wrong. "And what's Moroi?"

He could have made it rain blood, if he wanted to. But that would have been really messy and messed up his clothes, and blood stained. He knew that well, from when he'd been a little kid and not quite so neat with his feedings as he was now. And even if it had been in a dream, it still would have felt warm and sticky and pretty much gross.

"Yeah, she did. Well, she didn't just die. She was murdered. Assassinated." And it was clear from the look on his face that it still hurt him.

"Moroi is the kind of vampire I am. We're born. We're alive. We breathe and eat and have kids and live pretty much the same lives as humans except that we also need blood to survive and have elemental magic."

Kenny was used to being covered in blood, so he wouldn't have cared much if his clothes got soaked with it. He just kind of wanted something weird and messed up to happen. He didn't care for this dream. It was too nice for him, what with the flowers and birds and shit. Oh well, at least it was only temporary.

"That sucks," he said, not quite sure what else to say. He never really did when someone told them someone they knew died.

"Okay, got it. And what element is your magic? It doesn't seem like any of the regular ones?" From what he'd seen so far, anyway.

“It’s called Spirit,” he said. “It’s really rare. It’s so rare that people had forgotten it even existed.” And of course, he got to be one of the weird ones who couldn’t specialize in a normal magic. It didn’t bother him that much, though. After all, he wasn’t a normal sort of guy.

He didn’t comment on his sympathy for his aunt. It was awkward and to be honest he didn’t want to go there.

“I need to find a good way to get blood here.”

"Guess so. I've never heard of spirit being an element." Really, spirit to him was, well ghosts and shit. It certainly wasn't an element like the four main ones like fire and water and such. But he knew there were different kinds of worlds, so he just accepted that spirit was an element where this guy was from.

"Right, the lame vampire thing," he said. "How'd you get blood at home?"

"Well, they've gone on so long saying that we have elemental magic, so I guess they had to make it one so it didn't fuck up their system. As I said, it's super rare and was pretty much forgotten before me and Lissa. Guess it took some Royals to manifest it before they'd pay attention."

Because Sonya had been a Spirit user longer than he had, or longer than Lissa, but nobody knew about it.

"We had feeders at Court. Humans who volunteered for the high. Our bites release endorphins into the feeders and it feels incredible, I guess. So they live at Court and feed us."

"How is it decided which element you get?" Kenny wondered. "Are you just born with it or something?"

He had kind of figured he didn't go out and hunt humans for blood. If he had, he'd probably would've done it by now. Not that Kenny really cared much in the first place. If his sister were here, he'd be a little worried. But she wasn't, so he didn't really care.

"Cool," he shrugged and added, "you can have some of mine if you ever want it. I'm always losing blood anyway, so." He was always dying or getting injured or both, losing blood was a normal occurrence for him anyway.

“Yeah, we’re just born with it. In manifests when we’re high school age, usually. Me, I didn’t specialize in any of the four. I mean, I had a little scale in water, a little in fire, a little in air, and a little in earth, but nothing like someone who specialized in the element. My dad thought I was just lazy and not trying hard enough, even though I was.” It was a painful memory, but he just shrugged it away. He didn’t like to think about his father.

“Yeah?” He asked, raising an eyebrow. “It doesn’t hurt. And I don’t take any more than you’d lose giving blood.”

"Huh, cool," Kenny said. He kind of wondered which one he would've ended up with. Though knowing his luck, he'd probably wouldn't have any of the elements.

"Sure, why not," he shrugged. "And doesn't matter to me if it hurts or not. I'm used to getting hurt all the time." Nor did he care how much blood Adrian took, though he doubted he'd take too much of it anyway.

"It doesn't hurt," he said adamantly. "People get addicted to it. They want to be bitten all the time. That wouldn't happen if it hurt." At least not as frequently as it did, and they never had trouble finding feeders.

Adrian wouldn't take too much. Moroi were careful about that, because if they took a life drinking blood, they went Strigoi. And that was the very last thing Adrian wanted. Even the thought of it utterly terrified him.

"I'll give you a call sometime, then. When I'm awake."

Kenny just shrugged. He still didn't care if it hurt or not or about the addiction or any of that. Really, the worst that could happen was Adrian took too much but it seemed like he would. Plus, Kenny wasn't scared to die. He'd done that too many times to be scared.

"Cool, whenever. I'm gonna get going," he said. He was getting bored and he figured Adrian would do his thing and get him back to his own dreamless sleep. "I'll see you in the real world or whatever."
